Annoying Brake Squeal!

I've got an annoying metallic brake squeal at a certain brake pressure.

Current brakes are Brembo discs all round, Meyle pads on front and Textar pads on the rear but it did the same thing with the old brakes. Brakes have done 6,000 miles.

I have today removed all the pins and pads, cleaned them up and greased them - the garage hadn't greased an entire thing when the brakes were done, nor copper greased the studs. And... no difference.

One thing I did notice was that there was quite a large indentation mark from the piston on the back of the pad from the rear offside. The rear nearside I replaced (with another TRW) when I bought the car, as it had seized so, I gather these calipers are susceptible to problems.

Please can someone advise how to get rid of this pesky noise! 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Not sure if it will help but lots of stuff inhere about using genuine pads and discs I do with no issues what so ever on one occasion my local garage fitted brembo discs and some awful pads and the brakes nearly played a tune swapped to original parts all good

I did take the rear shims off to clean and neither caliper was rusty under them (of which 1 caliper is only 6 months old).

I did wonder if the rear shims are a potential source of noise however. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

if it's the rear, have you looked at the brake shoe locating pins on the hand brake have they pulled through the back plate/mud shield altogether or partially?

mine did enough to allow the shoes inside to catch on the drum from time to time making one hell of a racket (thought I was loosing a wheel till I did some investigating)

Re: Annoying Brake Squeal!

Not sure what's the issue is with the brakes but the wheel studs should never be greased as the tightening torque to ensure they don't loosen is 'dry' i'e no grease. The torque needed to hold them properly when lubricated may well stretch the studs which would be very bad...... 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)
