Adaptive Dynamics Fault - Replacement Link Wire

So…. Got the good old Adaptive Dynamics Fault this morning.

Suspension is rock hard, made me feel sick on the bypass 🤣

I know it’s a known issue with the wiring on the front struts, so I’m assuming it’s that…

There seems to be a fix kit available, LR032839.

My query is whether this kit has more flexible wires in it, so shouldn’t fail again, or are the wires still prone to failure like the original ones?

I suppose you could look at it that the original wires have lasted 10 years so the new kit should last the same?
I've just redone one of mine with some really flexible cable leaving a big loop in it.

I had a kit fitted by Glenrands and it now looks factory fresh. Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Hoping it’s a simple fix.

Went a bit harsh all of a sudden… no error shown on dash…. Then failed MOT on leaking rear shocker, put 2 new ones on, and it was still the same really. That was Christmas. Not used it much, and then fault today, so I’m hoping once it’s sorted the ride will be back to being comfortable… wasn’t as harsh as it is now, even when I thought it was harsh.

Thinking it might not have been working right but no fault showing, but now wire has fully snapped and it’s showing the dash message.

I’ll inspect the wires and take it from there.

Kit is the same wires from what I could see. Fitted one a couple of weeks ago. Initially repaired the original but it failed again 6 months later so bit the bullet Thumbs Up

The replacement front ones are a slightly better design when I compared them. i cant remember what precisely but I noted at the time they were more substantial. I think the rubber maybe onepiece when before it was two.

It is worth doing the rear ones too, they are easily accesible just behind the back seats. Although they have less stress as no steering movement they were as brittle as twigs on mine (2012).

Cheers for that. Saw those when the rear shockers were replaced.

Just been out to look… and if I were a betting man….





Looks like the other side has already had the fix kit fitted….

I also noted that the broken side didn’t have a gromit fitted, so each turn of the top would have pushed the wire directly…..

See if the fix kit sorts the issue tomorrow.

I released the clip holding the wire to the body to give the cable near the cap more freedom to move less. I also rotated the plate below the cap so that the cable had equal freedom when the cap turned in each direction.

Fitted the new wiring. Fault has cleared from the dash and suspension no longer rock solid.

Perhaps it’s having rear shocks that weren’t at their best, and now had new ones around Christmas, but it’s still not what I’d call a magic carpet ride…. It corners level during normal driving, and you can feel road undulations. Could be as I said, being used to dodgy rear dampers…

I couldn’t get the grommet in the top metal cap though…. No matter what I did.

So for the moment, the wire isn’t tied back…..

Are they supposed to corner flat? At normal speeds?

Mine stays quite flat initially but will start to lean a little on a long bend. I regularly travel a section of rural road that does an S bend over the top of a hill, starting at 100 kph then easing off a little over the crest. The vehicle is very steady, without lurching, understeer or oversteer as it changes direction through the bends.
