I have used a head torch for years, but know that much improved LED types are available now, so should really treat myself.

+1 for led head torches, imo better than any hand held inspection lamp. |

I can second the head torch as well, especially if it has an adjustable angle like a Petzl Pixa for most generic stuff and even carry around all time in the car.

I use this one from Sealy. Only £29 on Amazon. Has been very useful for many years now and keeps working well. You can hang it, you can use the very strong magnet. You can flip the lights to be tight against the handle, or have it sticking out. Charges fast, keeps its charge. I'd buy it again if I didn't have one already

I’ve got/had that one it is a really good lamp but decided to stop working after a few years of constant service,I bought this one from wurth absolutely brilliant and extremely bright also get a decent discount with them so not as expensive as listed also set a trade account up with them and they will replace regardless if it fails. https://eshop.wurth.co.uk/Product-categori...en/GB/GBP/ Head torch I use this and get them from howdens for around £12 very bright too. Thanks for all the helpful insights. I too use a bright PETZL LED head torch which i wouldnt be without however its not much use when trying to poke around the engine bay of the V8 or when you need a constant stationary light to get to that impossible nut.

More of a work light than inspection lamp, but I have had this for a couple of years and it is excellent:
