The amber light is meant to come on when you are behind and within (a button adjustable) range of a vehicle in front. If this light came on when you definitely had nothing in front of you then it may indicate a fault. Otherwise worth having another try to get used to how it works. 2016 SDV8 AB |

Doesn’t the light show it’s in “follow mode”. Think my L322 has a light… must be similar…

You have adaptive cruise control by the sound of it. The amber light comes on when a vehicle in front of you comes in range of the radar from your car, it will then begin to adjust the speed of your car to match the one its following keeping a pre-set distance, which you can change with the steering wheel control toggle. It will stay at the set distance until you move to another lane or override with the accelerator or brake. It takes a bit of getting use to to be honest, and always be ready to override it just in case it decides not to see the car in front, which it does occasionally do causing a trouser moment, but overall its very good. |

I’ve never had a problem with mine not seeing a car in front but little things like motorbikes can fool it |

Only does it rarely, usually when the car in front swaps in traffic, but works fine 99% of the time, maybe needs calibrating. |

On mine, if I want to temporarily disable the adaptive CC I hold down the button that reduces the gap for about 3 or so seconds. The orange display then changes to white with 'off'.
