Trailer tyres

Evening all

So was having a look at the trailer today and noticed one tyre is ermmm let's say slightly worse for wear. Anyone happen to have any good suggestions on which tyres to go for a car transporter trailer with minimal usage.

Cheers folks

That looks like the brake has stuck on that wheel at some point.

Tyres wise, I don’t think brand matters too much, but they have to be rated properly as they need to be able to take the full load of the trailer.

GT radial Maxmilers are fitted to lots of trailers and caravans, have had them on trailers in the past and they’ve been perfectly serviceable. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I agree, looks like you have a brake issue. Not sure what size tyre you use.

I use 10" tyres. Don't buy really cheap ones, tend to go mid priced as always picking up punctures.
Note:- I now carry two spares bolted to the trailer (four wheel trailer) Thumbs Up

One of the brakes had indeed locked up. I checked the shoes, three of them are all good but the shoes on the same wheel was worn away so that's gonna be another job to do.

I've got the spare wheel on at present but I haven't changed them in the 4 years I've had the trailer so they need too be changed.

One thing I don't save money on is tyres and brakes. Might only be a trailer but tyres are tyres so will only go for a reputable brand

Tyre size is 155/70/12

Its most important to get the load rating right if its a heavy trailer (eg with a car on it approaching the license limit of 3500kg). Something like 102/104 if you've got 4 wheels, but here's a table with them all listed http://www.uk-trailer-parts.co.uk/trailer-tyre-load-index/ Mike - MPx

I have some more like that if you want some. You want at lead "C" rated tyres. I suggest you balance them and check the rims are round as well. I bought new tyres and rims from a Trailer Spares Dealer for my Transporter. They gave a total weight of 4.2 tons load at 60 mph. I originally had some tyres on the Trailer which shredded the tread, I found out they were only rated at 15kph and been over stamped by a back street tyre dealer in Lincoln.

Best branded one I can see is a Hankook. Everything else seems to be Shonkytyre There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
