If the EGR`s are unplugged and there is no EML then the engine ecu presumably must have had them mapped out.

I think the short answer is “to hide a fault” which would be enough to make me walk away wondering what else has been bodged |

Hi, but it does the opposite There unplugged so you look deeper, many on here have blanked their EGRs or mapped them out but you dont need to unplug them then, if you just unplug them and nothing else you would get the EML. This would not put me off if I understood why its just got me intrigued now as to why there are other things that need sorting with the car so dont think it will work out anyway but would like to know whats the point of unplugging them |

EGR faults don't generate an EML on the early TDv8s - just fault codes that eg an iiD will find & report.
