Well if you've done all that then you both love your car and take good care of it. That doesn't mean you have to be wedded 'til death do you part - unless you want to of course. If you fancy a change go for it ... then go through that whole process again making the new one as good as it can be. Mike - MPx

Possibly going over this whole process again with another purcahse is my fear. At the same time, buying (anything) new is out of the question... Also, there's only a slim chance I could recover half the money spent, in this market.
But I do get those moments of thinking whether maintaining the fatty is worth it or not.
Math still seems to add up though...

My opinion is that you definitely keep it!

I have done similar so many times and then sold, and re bought a different car and had to do loads of jobs again! All I achieved was making sure the next owner had a nearly perfect car, which is mad.

I don't know why ur asking, I'm about to pull a noisey vanos off my m62 after it's rebuild. Shoulda just resealed them at the time but didn't I would never dream of parting with it.

I didn't change the Vanos either as I had no issues and was told they were just fine. I'll take my chances with them, I guess. Anyway, to the question now, it is about where one draws the line. The point where another repair job becomes one job too much.
I also own a 2001 freelander. In our 15 years together it has been through hell, with 3 crashes, multiple HG jobs, etc etc. Repaired every time taking zero shortcuts and still looks factory fresh. I have effectively re-purchased the car at list price with all these repairs and maintenance over the years.
While I can comfortably maintain the two, there are times I'm questioning my determination to keep them on the road against all odds. With that said, I'd never sell the freelander no matter the offer and I guess the same will apply for the fatty too, unless the right late model example shows up (not many here) or a 405 comes withing reach (prices skyrocketed here lately)...

Financially likely none of it makes sense, but the question is (in my opinion); if you sell will you need to buy something else? And what is it that you want?

Here in the UK I would never dump so much money in an '04 model, but I don't know the market in Greece. Nor do I know the current state of the car.

Greece is a very particular case when it comes to cars. Taxation is what makes a newer model of this league unattainable.
That's why most similar vehicles are registered to enterprises or with foreign numbers here. Neither of these is an option.
What begins to make some financial sense for the average middle class individual, aspiring to own vehicles the size of a FF,
is something of 10 years of age and above. Being somewhat blessed with a milder weather, with little diligence we can
enjoy some rust-free motoring as well, so here's another reason why the average age of cars is higher compared to other
countries.
Used vehicle prices also are nothing like other countries. I don't think a '04 MY FF would cost more than 2000 GBP in the UK.
The market price here is anything between 10 to 14K euros. My insurance company valuated mine at 13,5 K. This can be
low mileage 2008 Supercharged (or better) kind of money elsewere.
As the car is in a very decent shape, I would probably try to sell at 11-12K, realistically, and added half that money on top towards a 2009 MY. Or even twice that towards a 2012 MY but the former will require another 6-10K to catch up with maintenance while the latter is scarcer than hen's teeth.

looks like a very nice condition. Same interior as my first (2002) FFRR which was also a HSE. If you use it regularly and do routine maintenance often , this should go on for years (and miles). Look at Sandyt on this forum. He has over 230,000 MILES on his old one.

Thanks. It is driven daily although I'm planning on relieving it of the work commute duties once it's out of the garage and use a rental instead. It was initially bought to be used as a nice / weekend / hobby ride able to accommodate everyone in full gear and equipment. Driving it turned out to be very addictive though so it ended up a daily...I'm sure you all can relate...
