Is paint protection worth the cost

What do people think about the JLR paint protection deal ? Would you go for the dealer sold treatment or are there better options after market - I’m London based and thinking ahead to my L460 delivery - the other thread suggests I will have a long time to muse on this 😀

No dealer supplied paint protection offers are worth it because they don’t have the expertise to do it properly. They generally apply poor products to an underprepared surface not very well and charge a lot for it. If you want paint protection go to a good specialist detailer.

That was what I thought I would be advised but good to hear that - any recommendations

Maybe not much use to you in London if you dont want to travel, but I use Ti22 in Chepstow. James Walker and the team there do it properly! Mike - MPx

I used Elite detailing in Belgravia for my Lambo PPF and ceramic coat. They are good and do lots of hyper and supercars. They are very expensive though. Topaz are cheaper but I have never used them.

Definitely don’t get a JLR paint protection deal. Not even if they do it for free. I had that with our Mercedes-AMG GL63, I declined and then still put it on free of charge. I was not happy as the detailed now had to remove it and do it properly.

Definitely go to the a good detailer. A new car requires nearly always paint correction first and a really good clean. And a proper application requires curing under lights etc.

Elite as mentioned has a good reputation. I would also recommend unique detailing; it just up the M1. Not far from London. No bullshit cowboys; father and son super enthusiastic about what they do with good clean facilities. I’ve had two our current cars done. Got my wife’s new car already booked in, and also two classics.

Not cheap but also not silly expensive.

I used these guys below for my Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe. They did a fantastic job and at almost half the price of Topaz.

If you click on the link below, you will see they have 44 5 star Google reviews, they do work for Mclaren and when my car went in, they had just finished a collectors £8 million pound Ferrari 250 SWB. Their Facebook page on the link, also shows they recently did a Ferrari SP2. The list goes on. A lot of people with very high value cars trust them and they do deliver.

Really nice guys who do a top job at a fair price.

They're just the other side of the M25, off the M3, so just outside London. When the time comes, ask for Dan or Scott, tell them Allister with the Phantom Drophead recommended them Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

I use Bellissimoto in SE16. A bit of a pain to get to from north London but they do a great job and they’re worth at least getting a quote from, I suggest. I went for the full monty Gtechniq paint protection, which requires an annual service, and I feel it’s a premium worth paying. Andrew there also does paint touch ups if you provide the paint, badging, this type of thing. A useful person to know. L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso
