Before I embarrass myself tomorrow complaining can anyone clarify the following.

Wheel alignment on a L405 2014 should only be done with specialist equipment that can reset the lane assist software. Not doing so could cause issues.

Story- Three tyres were replaced due to a second hand dealer issue and I was sent to Wilkos Motosave for three new matching Scorpions which they paid for. Four weeks later I noticed a rumble in the steering which i expected was a balancing problem so went back to Wilkos for a recheck. I asked if they could also check the Alignment/Tracking which they did. Next day rumble in steering was just about gone but steering was pulling to left. Went back next day and it was adjusted again as 1 degree out but afterwards still pulling to left. Staff said it was aligned perfectly and it was probably the toe and camber that needed checking but they don't do that and i would have to take it elsewhere. Called a nearby private garage and they wouldn't touch it due to the statement above. Called another garage who said the same. Finally went into another garage for a face to face chat and they also said the same. In summary they said Wilkos Motosave shouldn't have touched the vehicle at all if they hadn't the capability to reset the lane assist as well and I'm best taking it to a LR dealer.

So before I demand a refund and then go to an Indy LR miles away have I got this correct?

And as a side note, the rumble has been cured by the front wheels being rebalanced which is great but there's still a tiny rumble left which one of the garages said would be cured by having the rear wheels balanced as well. Any truth in that? because if there is and they were fitted by the same garage only four weeks ago should i really be paying to have these wheels balanced again?

Well, any pothole can put a wheel out of balance instantly so asking a garage to re balance wheels after 6 weeks may not bode well sir...

You need the car to go on a hunter machine, that's what JLR dealers use... Most kwik fit branches have them...

Regards Kwik Fit, they were the garage I went into who suggested I go to JLR as Wilkos had no business dabbling. Might give them another call tomorrow. Cheers for advice.

kwik-fit used to be reasonable for this hunter alignment, but now I think they've gone up to about £120 for a 4 wheel align... but national tyres do it, if you book at your branch, for £50 for 4 wheels. -tip, spray your adjustment nuts, as they (all companies it seems) don't like freeing up seized adjustment nuts. and throw it back to you to 'replace track rod ends' etc.

I don't know if they still have the same offer but when I used Kwik fit about 6 months ago they charged about £120 but this included free checks and adjustments for 2 years, maximum 8 (I think) visits.
Considering how prone these things to wearing out suspension bits I reckon this is a bargain

Thanks everyone. Interestingly had a word with Motosave HQ who weren't happy with the work I've had done and have offered full tracking and wheel balancing at another store tomorrow free of charge. Worth a punt i guess.
P.S. My son has that Kwik Fit 8 visits deal and found it very good.

If it's of any interest to anyone...

Motosave did a rebalance of all wheels including the spare. three tyres on those wheels, including the spare, were fitted brand new by one of their other stores a few weeks previously and all were found to be out by at least 40g. The spare which had never been used was found to be out by 140g and the fitter said the weights looked like they had never been replaced. Two others were also out by 35 to 450g despite being rebalanced at the other store only the week before, one of those also had old weights on. Embarrassed faces all round and multiple apologies. Rear and front alignment all done, witnessed the whole thing and saw the settings all reset which was accompanied by paperwork. Didn't cost me a penny as agreed. Still pulling a teeny bit to left which is apparently a common thing for most vehicles according to the internet. Also discovered that all tyres were overinflated and all different pressures so that was reset too.

Area Manager arranged it all and called me on Christmas Eve to apologise. Apparently he drives an RRS and appreciates the value of these vehicles. Hearing from me about grubby handmarks and someone playing with the telly really disgusted him, i was quite taken aback by his honesty. Hopefully that's me sorted now. Next job is to replacement a rear shock that is drooping slightly. Oh joy.

re the pulling to the left, try swopping the fronts over ....i had the same 'irritation' and this solved it.. ... - .- -.

Thanks for that Stan. Just out of curiosity would this not mess with the TPM readings on the dash? Or am I overthinking it.

the tpms will recalibrate itself so nothing to worry about.. ... - .- -.
