I’ve found out yesterday that the Lower Tailgate is not locking. It’s only just failed and I’m not sure what is causing it.
The lower tailgate release button sort of works in that, actuators are heard within the tailgate when pressed, but the locks on left and right hand side of the lower tailgate are not able to be locked.

If a push the side of screwdriver shaft in to the locks on either side, as the locks rotate, they do not grab and hold the screwdriver.

Has anybody experienced anything like this ? Any advice on how to investigate ?

I’d try lubricating the manual release catches/levers on both sides so they move freely. Might be a long shot I know, but it won’t lock if they are stuck in the open position.

Worth a try for the time it takes…

Yes lubricating the locks was the first thing I did. There is no undue resistance in the lock mechanisms, just not latching. -------------------------------------

Its the manual latches that are probably holding it open as mentioned above
I had exactly the same issue a few weeks back 2016 4.4 diesel

It’s the plastic manual override lever bit…..not the latch itself… though you might have still done it. Just want to make sure…
