I loved my L405 Supercharged and could live with the fuel economy, but it had fuel injectors made of cheese that kept melting. 2 in 3 weeks at £700 a time to change, should probably have listened to my Indy who suggested changing all 8 at once for a discount as chances were all the originals were from a bad batch. How right he was.

All this on a 2015 MY that had only covered 45k miles

It really has put me off ploughing big money into these money pits.

My Range Rover Sport has fallen £3k at WBAC in the last 6 weeks, I put it down to the new calendar year.

There’s a 2012 tdv8 Autobiography for sale at a dealer that has a screen price of £26,000. WBAC will currently pay you £17,600 for that car, even less once they’ve gone over it. Nice profit for the dealer if he can get it.

Seems a bit like the old days, the car you want to trade is worth nothing, whilst the retail price is a kings ransom

I guess when dealers are feeling the pinch with reduced volumes the only way to maintain a profit is to charge the maximum for what they sell and pay the minimum for what they buy. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Agreed. My argument is always that you make your money when you buy, not when you sell.

Regardless it’s a bit silly at the moment. Also selling privately is annoying as I’ve had many people posing as private individuals, yet with a little bit of osint investigation it’s clear they are traders. I can’t stand that, just want some honesty.

But who are paying these prices?

You’ll get a bare minimum 3 months warranty from the dealer and then pay a fortune for an aftermarket warranty that won’t cover anything on a car that age.

I don’t like my RR Sport but will put up with it until this madness ends

Maybe there was a bit of oversupply when WBAC were offering top dollar a few months back?

Either they will have to come up or dealers will have to come down. Will be interesting to see how this all plays out long term.

Is it actually for sale

For £25K I should say yes but I’m actually enjoying it. Mine is Santorini triple black autobiography, with everything working. Nice bespoke valved exhaust with original Hawke wheels, proper integrated apple CarPlay and BlackVue dvr900x front/rear cameras. A lovely very clean ceramic coated example.

The prices are crazy because the market is crazy due to then lack of new cars being made because of the semiconductor shortage.

Big margins on RR’S As for dealers they are higher risk and usually need bits sorting. Plus they are a business and not a charity.

i think some thing has to give at some point ..............time will tell
