Thanks to this write-up I have managed to change both EGR valves today.
I only removed the side plate on the passenger side (UK car) as the final nut on the other side had rusted itself to the thread it was attached to, which decided it would also spin round and round.... 2017 Jaguar F Pace 25t Portfolio - still part of the JLR family 😀
2009 3.6 V8 (MY2010) - my first ever diesel! - now also gone Sad
2004 4.4 V8 Petrol Vogue - now gone

Ok didn't have to go as deep with EGR'S as it was only , well not only , the inlet manifold , drivers side cracked. The pics were a great help, comments still valuable , took some of my own , but didn't have to use them . Biggest problem was losing stuff like bolts, injector clips etc own the side. My hands are not the smallest and awkward , hands wont straighten , op needed I think!
Magnets a great help! After losing 4 objects and finding 3 , not too bad. Sathanks again , this was on my L320 by the way , with the same engine.

Fantastic and detailed write up. I have just recently purchased a 2008 3.6TDV8. it's rurning well and hopefully no current EGR value problems but is there a way to monitor then to see if they are close to failing? For instance do I need an IID Tool or do just watch for error messages is they anything visually or how the car drives that may indicate they are on the verge of failing. Is there any Preventative Maintenance cleaning sprays etc or additives that are worth using? Finally is blanking the EGR's worth it? or will it lead to other problems? Once again thank you for the write up. This whole site is an amazing resource for the newbie. Hopefully I will be able to give back when I get established in some way. Thanks Willie
