United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Santorini Black

hi bob

thanks for replying - i have got the long lead and did try connecting it to the plug that fed the bm54 and i think i did use one of the other spare plugs to power up the bm54

i will try again and see where i went wrong lol

i thought that it was possible to test the unit in the boot area before taking anything out - but i am going to do the same set up as yours

cheers

this is very interesting , perhaps bobsin can put a list of the exact kit used so others can copy ? also wondering if this method will work with another style of android head unit ??

Has anyone had experience with Alvin?
There is a new avant 3 that seems to solve all issues... DAP and onboard computer compatible etc

Just a little FYI for those peeps who are reading this thread and thinking of applying it to another make of Pink Pong head unit... the Eonon lead has a plug and socket on it... this hijacks the speaker feeds from the BM54, but taps into all the other connections.

Other manufacturers like Erisin only have a single plug on their lead which means they replace the BM54 and will make the DSP redundant.

The best way of telling which type of system you're looking at is the DSP compatible setups will have a plug and socket of the main lead, which is always shown in the pictures!! Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Speakers

any vehicle built with the dsp amp will have all it's speakers wired direct from the dsp, NOT the bm54, so the dsp has to be used, unless you rewire all speakers, for which you will need a plethera of crossovers, e.t.c, plus, if u do not keep the bm54, the dsp will not operate, you need the bm54 to keep the dsp amp awake, over the ibus, plus it supplies video signal to the old head should you keep it (in glovebox) . i have not found a new head unit with emulation to wake the dsp yet, if there is one, only then can you ditch the bm54, but then you lose other control functions provided by the original head, i use the old head to switch on my fbh in winter months, with my TD6, for instance. would not wanna lose that, major gadget!!

I think there was a chap who was driving the DSP with a raspberry computer thing in place of the BM54... that would most likely have been in the original android head unit thread started by Haylands... I haven't got enough days spare to wade through it all Laughing Laughing Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

i know its been while but been mega busy and still not fitted the new stereo yet but today had a go to see if the new unit will work rigged up temporary in the boot

using the 5m cable i disconnected the bm54 plug from the unit plugged it into the loom and then put the other plug off the loom into the bm54

i am now get the existing unit to come on with the led lit but the dsp option is greyed out and still no sound

i think maybe one of the wires in the end of the harness is in the wrong place and therefore not allowing the sound to work
bob would it be possible for you to take a photo of the back of the plug that plugs into the bm54 please

the one with the red , yellow , black and green wires - cheers

Hey folks,

Recently installed one of these Eonon units in my 2004 Vogue and had the old unit in the glovebox. Recently though Ive been experiencing battery drain and my mechanic seems to think its the old unit in the glovebox which is draining the power from battery when parked up overnight. Anybody have any ideas as to why this would be happening?
