Considering purchase - questions

After keeping an eye out for 6 months or so, I've seen a car I am keen on, on the face of it. A couple of questions:

1) It's a 2017 AB 4.4. Main dealer, £46K which is actually one of the lower cost ones at the miles (57k) and spec. However, WBAC trade in is £36,500, which seems a huge spread, I would have expected c.£5k. I'm not too worried about this, as I would keep it for 3 years, however, this seems odd, any thoughts ?

2) As it's Main dealer it'll come with the 12 month warranty. How much should I expect to pay if I wanted to extend beyond this ? Can I do that now, or do I wait until the initial 12 months is up....

thanks.

The second hand market is very hot right now, so a lot of people, me included are holding off until the market cools down.

I think at the moment, you’re paying at (potentially) the peak of the market, so even in 3 years time, you’ll never claw back a lot of that £10k margin.

I think the warranty is around £1200 a year, but a few others have recently renewed, so they can confirm. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue
Had- 2008 TDV8 Vogue SE in Java black
Had - 2007 S/C in Stornoway Grey

I compared WBAC with forecourt prices.

£7 - £10k seems about right at the moment Sad

LR Warranty comes in 2 flavours, the better - ie does more - one is around £1600 / year.

And you usually renew it at the end of each year.

Whether you can pay for year 2 in addition to getting the free 12 months when you buy the car, I don't know. What do I put here then?

Bear in mind that the £10k margin will include £2k of VAT, so the net margin is 'only' £8k. 2017 SDV8 Autobiography

Thanks all. It's perfect spec for me, which doesn't come along that often on a used car, so I'll go in to get a cost to change I think, maybe the px value will be good (ever the optimist !)

I need to change by end of March for a few 2022 family road trips, so I do have some breathing space...

WBAC is rubbish and always the lowest price, Motorway offered me £3,000 more for my RRS.

Theoretical prices are no use - you can only buy what is for sale.

Prices are high - and may drop again - or may not.

If you've found the right car at a price you can afford and need one now - then just get on with it Thumbs Up

Apparently WBAC are currently offering some of the better prices. What do I put here then?

The best of the two LR warranties is called the Extended warranty. It’s £1460 without breakdown cover….

A disappointing morning ! Called the dealer yesterday to discuss and put a deposit down, phone just rang out...

Called 9.15 today, got through, they took a deposit yesterday.... Confused

It was the exact spec I wanted as well...oh well, if anyone comes to sell a 17 model year with ivory interior and preferably deployable tow bar, you know where I am...
