Dash Cam

Morning all

No doubt this subject has been covered in the past but I've seen a few new dash cams lately so wondered what experiences people have with them. I'll be looking for two of them one for the FFRR and one for the subaru. Ideally I'd like them both to have rear camera as well as having the capability to record when the cars are parked up.

Do quite a bit of night driving as i mainly work nights so needs too be decent quality recording for night time

Any suggestions folks

Cheers

Allen

Personally I would avoid Nexbase - I have two (one in the RR & one for "other" vehicles) - both have to be continually reset & reformatted.
My wife & daughter have one each - same issues.
My neighbour have two & the internal batteries last about 30 seconds or. so.

I would avoid 'Halo'.

I can't vouch for the quality / functionality of their cameras but I can vouch for their 'support', there isn't any.

The L322 I picked up in August had a hard-wired Halo dashcam, I was able to connect to it with my phone but the view was the left-hand 60% or so. I emailed them and described the issue. After about a fortnight I got a reply, with no information, just wanting a screenshot, I sent that the same day. Still waiting for a reply since.

I'll keep an eye on this thread too, as I'll be wanting to put a decent camera in an L322 I'm picking up soon. 2010 Range Rover Autobiography TDV8 Santorini Black

I have Silent Witness cameras from Parksafe installed on two of our cars both front and rear. Never had any problems and the software to review the videos is very good.

Garmin Mini for me.
Small and very discrete. No screen on it. Use an App via bluetooth to set up and download files.
It's the best one I've had over the years.
Still working out how to fit one in rear though Whistle Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Blackvue here too. Brilliant little units.

The SD cards that come with them are toilet, junk it and get a Samsung or Sandisk one. Christian.

Blackvue as well for me. I've got the DVR900 front and back, nice and discreet install, no built in screens that are unnecessary anyway, parking mode that doesn't drain and inbuilt is sufficient for me, but if you park up elsewhere insecurely for long periods of time just add a powerbank to it.

I have Viofo. Comes in twincam too. But I find it difficult to lead a cable
from the dashcam tot the rear. So lately I just buy two separate cams.

Front one takes power from the glove-box and the rear one from the boot.

Tricky bit is to get from the overhead liner to the rear hatch, but just a
loop gives enough lead to open and close, no hassle.

Two of these. Can't find them in the UK though:

Sounds like blackvue is the one too go for. I've watched a few you tube reviews on them and the the drx900 plus seems too be the one too go for.

Edit I’ve got the dr900x 2chan. It was only £445 installed by Halfords. I was hesitant but they actually did a very good job. I was lucky with the installed. He knew the l322 like it was his own car.
