My car is in for service at the moment so I have rung the dealer to ask for this update to be enabled in Topix. Will report back if they have it available.

Well, the service team enabled the update on Topix, and by the time I had started the car, it was ready to download, and is now installed. Easy peasy!

Why in this day and age, you have to ask for a check box to be enabled to get a SOTA update!!!!
It defeats the whole object of SOTA.

Its a simple software fix, for JLR to permanently enable this check box.
It's just plain stupid that we have to rely on our forum members to learn of this update and post it. (Well done again Adara).

Its stupid that when you search, and because this check box is not enabled, you get the reply back, that your software is up to date, when its clearly not.

This could easily be handled in Topix (no £££ subscription needed please!!!), where owner can check box to download any updated software if owner so wanted to do so.

Woke up this AM to the software update available message. Downloaded it and Waze now works again!! No call to dealer necessary for me. good luck!

My dealer, Dick Lovett of Melksham, says I need to book the car in to get it updated!!

WHAT!!! this is a 2012.5 car with 6k miles on the clock and they want me to drive 20 miles so they can do a job which should be SOTA! Oh, and I told them about it 4 days ago (and emailed) but still had to call again this morning to get an answer! It's beyond a joke (that's why I've named the dealer!). Only good thing is, I have a mate who is getting even worse treatment from his Audi dealer!  All LR cars from 1984

I'm still waiting for the dealer to work out how to handle my request to enable SOTA - chased them twice now. I got the impression they have no idea what I'm on about. FFRR SDV8 Autobiography

Guess what???.....

Just been out to the car after reading on the LR website that when you first enable SOTA you need to enable Data on the settings tab. Although I knew I had it enabled, I switched it off and back on again. The car thought it was the first time I had done it, so it asked the usual agreement question which I clicked.

I went back into the Software Update tab and hey presto there it was, and it downloaded the new version. So maybe that's what everyone needs to do rather than "Phone a Friend (aka the Dealer!!).

Anyway it worked!  All LR cars from 1984

Nice one for sorting that! I'd already found the same however and it still didn't download. But... Yesterday PM my dealer emailed back and fair enough, told me he had worked it out and the workshop had set the VIN to "Ready Status" ... I'm sat here now updating!

So the process does work.. eventually!

Mine's all updated but now I can't get Waze to work!! Maybe I'll have to reinstall on the iPhone.  All LR cars from 1984
