Mike can you post a photo of the power cable showing both ends? Someone might have an idea where you can get one. John

Sorry John, I missed your post, but just been improving cabling and got so cold my fingers have gone numb, so this is good enough until the weather improves.

Thanks

Considering the amount of cabling required and having to place it somewhere, the naviplus unit wouldn't be much more work. Everything is plug and play out of sight. Sure a little bit more expensive but doesn't seem to more of a pain to install to me.

But good to see another option. Where does the sound get output through though? And how does the phone calls integrate?

looking at your last pic Mike ,the cabling looks ok ...

i've switched on my units internal speaker as i'd only use it for sat nav directions..this way theres only 2 cables showing..
might use the FM link , which works very well, for BBC sounds when abroad ... ... - .- -.

Stan,
I am still playing around with the settings and the cable routings, but at the moment I have the sound working via the Aux socket in the rear with the internal speaker set low and that suits me.
Just so pleased to have up to date Apple map Nav working.

my youngest boy has used Waze [on phone] for years and has always raved about it and me being an old git and the lack of AA/carplay on the FF i didnt think much about it..

well this unit, although not integrated ,is an eye opener...a quick glance at the screen and you can see slow traffic on your route so you take an alternative road..brilliant.. Very Happy ... - .- -.

I gave Waze another 10 miles test yesterday to find a NT place selling Xmas trees we had seen advertised.
I added a blue 🚙 car , just for fun and it certainly took us to the doorstep on roads I have never used before.
Only comment against is the annoying voice accent, the only person I have heard with worse Welsh pronounccination than me. Rolling with laughter
As you say it shows standing and slow moving traffic clearly.
The screen is brilliant, very bright and crystal clear even in bright sunlight.

Alrighty folks, I've been away for a while but just catching up on the banter! Most people like to charge their phones while driving, so my solution has been as follows.....

Get a cheapo Bluetooth receiver, and a ground loop eliminator off ebay. Discreetly run a 3.5mm jack cable from the aux input in the centre armrest into the armrest cubby that also houses a convenient cigarette lighter type charging point that you can use to power your Bluetooth receiver. All neat, All out of sight. Get a windscreen mounted phone holder with built in induction charger. I use this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B09CGP...&psc=1

I mount it in the extreme lower right of the windscreen so I can see the phone, -face ID still works on my iPhone, and it doesn't block the road ahead. Power it from the cigarette lighter in the dash and hide all your cables in between where the dash panels meet each other. -Again, all hidden and out of sight. Pair your phone with your Bluetooth receiver, switch your stereo to AUX and away you go. You can also pair with the LR Bluetooth system for telephone calls with the 2121 Pin.
My phone gives me all the mapping apps, -Google/Waze, speed camera and traffic alerts, gives me full access to my apple music (Sound quality is great) and also voice commands via Siri. Also drops music volume if there's an incoming call etc. Does everything I want it to, and when i get in the car I don't have to physically connect any cables or owt, just whack my phone in its cradle and away I go. Hope that helps? its pretty bloody easy compared to ripping out dashes and screens that's for sure! All the best, Si. FFRR 4.2SC/KTM 990SMT Current and cherished.
