I'd still want to do it as preventative maintenance but unsure how to identify if the work has been done already. 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE - 'Black Betty'

There'll be a pipe from the second turbo down to the engine block, right pain in the 'arris to see even laying on your back looking upwards.
There are several threads somewhere on here of people who have had it done, from memory about £1k?
If it don't smoke, in my view, it don't need doing. Just coax the girl up to 3000rpm once in a while & she'll be fine. 2012 Orkney Grey Westminster 4.4TDV8 with Ivory interior.........nice!

AFAIK it only prevents smoke and is not a preventative fix against a major component fail. You have a 30 day window when buying a used car to reject it on the grounds of it being faulty or having significant faults that the dealer has to rectify so again I'd strongly suggest you get it inspected by a LR indy specialist so you know what you are dealing with. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

It involves drilling into the sump. Swarf risk. Personally, it's not worth the risk if you have a non-smoker. Save your cash for other work as it crops up....see my list Whistle Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

IGNORE Dr Rob beat me to it

At 10 years old and over 100K miles it's a good bet that it has either been done or it doesn't need it, £1000 is a lot to spend fixing a fault that isn't there. As others have said I would be tempted to leave it alone, the fix involves drilling into the engine block with grease on the drill bit to prevent swarf getting into the engine, why take the chance if it doesn't need it?

So, I've replaced the compressor this evening and cleared the faults but unfortunately, still not working.

The error I get is the same as before: C1A36-01 (AF) Exhaust Valve - General Failure Information - general electrical failure.

Can anyone offer advice at all? Was hoping an entirely new assembly would fix things but alas, not to be Sad 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE - 'Black Betty'

Update; was the wiring to the compressor. Had rubbed through on the box and split 1 wire and shredded another 2. Cut out, resoldered, job done! 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE - 'Black Betty'
