TDV8 4.4 Megaflush

Just had Bodsy complete Megaflush, just preventative maintenance, but the difference is amazing. Car touching 100k so wanted it done. Thought the gear changes were smooth before, but now unnoticeable, always seems now in the correct gear also. Has also improved throttle response, being obviously due to being in the correct gear.

Great service from a great guy.

I tried ringing him in September but no joy. He must be a busy man.

Will try again after Christmas…. Got MOT first 🤣.

Yep! He's a top chap and preventative maintenance on a gearbox is always a good thing 👌
Did he do transfer box and diffs for you too? Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Ive heard that you cannot mega flush the 8 speed gearbox due to the thermostat. Is this a fact ?

I understand that’s not a problem when I did my research, though did read it like you did. I think the issue is the 4 odd hours wait for it to cool down so you can check the level again. Might be wrong - never done it. So I’m guessing mobile folk disappear off and do other oil changes, and then come back later…..

I've seen a video of him doing it and he puts a big cooling fan under the gearbox to help cool it. Don't know how long it takes to cool it though.

I guess it’s no real difference from doing a change re the stat. Warm it to a point, stat will open, let it cool, check the levels… seemed pretty easy when I did my 4.4. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Hi All,

If I can just say to clarify, I’m not disrespecting the original poster, infact I’m really kean to get a mega flush done to my 2011 TDV8.

I have a quote here from another company that does mega flush “ing?”

“No, it is not possible to mega flush the 8-speed gearboxes.
We have heard that some are doing them but in reality, because these gearboxes have a thermostat that does not allow the ATF fluid to flow, you end up only changing the fluid in the cooler and pipes and not the actual gearbox.
I am researching it, but as of yet there is no easy way of getting around the thermostat problem.”

This was in 2017 so maybe things have moved on since then….

Happy so say where I got the quote from via DM but am not trying to make mischief or cause problems.

I’m going to talk to my local independent on Monday to see if they offer this service and their thoughts on the process.
I’m overseas working at the mo so time shift and work schedules make calling home a bit difficult.. 2011 4.4 TDV8

Have a look at Sam's Motor and Machine on YouTube.

Bodsy did his and warmed things up, cooled things down, etc. The guy clearly knows what he is doing so whoever told you otherwise perhaps isn't quite as knowledgeable as they're making out. 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE - 'Black Betty'

Has anyone previously done their own fluid change, then had Bodsy do a mega flush and noticed any difference after he has done it?
