Sat Nav ECU

Sat Nav doesn’t work. Indie says it’s either a wiring fault or ECU is fried because diagnostic kit suggests no communication with ECU, doesn’t sound quite right to me but if there is a Sat Nav ECU where does it hide, are replacements available. I was just going to get a new roof aerial - anyone got any thoughts? Geoff

Explain “doesn’t work?”

What year? The earlier years are behind the climate control and include the DVD player. My navigation showed me across the country each time I turned it off. That required a software update from the dealer.

Then the DVD player died. I bought a used one from eBay. The navigation worked perfectly.

I have the old navigation system in a box if you do not need a working DVD player. Dan. 🇨🇦 2013 L405 5.0 SCV8

the nav in the FF is pants anyway Geoff so you're not missing much...

maybe an aftermarket sat nav or a carplay/android auto conversion [£500'ish] or even a new full blown android head unit [£900'ish] ... - .- -.

Thanks Stan, unfortunately if I don't get it fixed that'll be two things that don't work (fridge is the other) both none essential I know. I've been using Waze on my mobile phone and I think its great (much better than built in) despite the fact that I am now a Wazer - on the plus side service and MOT yesterday no problems just a couple of things that need my attention (not fridge or sat nav). Thumbs Up Geoff

The Satnav on the newer cars (2019 onwards) is much better than it was and is the only one to work with HUD. All LR cars from 1984

Yes but the non-generic satnavs (Waze,Google Maps) won't show on HUD which is a shame. I suppose because they are on ACP, and yet the music track on ACP shows up on HUD Whistle All LR cars from 1984

Obviously my thread got hijacked by those boasting (uselessly to me) about HUD on later models but in answer to a question I was asked the box containing the word GPS has a red diagonal line through it. Geoff

LOL. The red line issue on mine was resolved by a software update at the dealer. It was not the antenna, wiring, or headunit. This was a $250 CAD fix. I assume a similar cost where you are. It is a known JLR issue and happens across the product line. Dan. 🇨🇦 2013 L405 5.0 SCV8
