Hi guys,

I am quite new to this forum, I used it once previously and I found it very handy.

Now I was wondering can anyone recommend a good Land Rover mechanic in Berkshire area -except Rovertune ( I had a really bad experience with them)

I need someone who knows how the EPB system works and not just say that you need a new module without even doing some basic checks.

At the moment I have the PARK BRAKE OFF LIFT SWITCH TO APPLY message displayed and the red parking brake light flashing- very annoying. Also there is some sort of a previous fault with the EPB as lifting the switch wont fix it. It will just trigger the yellow triangle and the handbrake fault.


Car is a 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE.

They are quite local but I was not sure about them hence the reason why I was asking on the forum. Rovertune again everyone is recommending them as very experienced etc but they failed miserably on a very simple job.

Rovertune.........

A simple job............one of the front driveshaft boot.

After I was reading the outstanding reviews they had I decide to let them do the job despite the fact that I could have used any other garage for a simple job like that.


After replacing the boot I had to go back to them 6-7 times ( And I'm not exaggerating) to get it re fitted.I probably wasted a full tank of fuel back and forth
On last occasion to be told that they cant do anything more and I will require a whole new driveshaft.

I had to physically ask them to allow me inside the workshop and show the mechanic how to fit the rubber boot. On all the previous attempts they were fitting it wrong. The boot was overstretched and as soon as you drove off the boot was becoming loose.
All that after I paid £350.00 for a boot job. Ever since I decided not to use them.

Maybe I was just unlucky

I've used / still use both Nick Kerner and Rovertune, NK being much much closer to my home tends to be easier from a logistics point of view. Both know the vehicles and I've not had any issues with either, although would still like to find a mobile LR specialist if there is one around here. RR Vogue TDV8 Grey/Black

I can highly recommend Keith Gott, it takes us an hour to get there but they really understand all Land Rovers and look after two L405's for us, including doing any warranty work. I've always found them to be very thorough and competitively priced. Ask for James in service reception and he will look after you.

I used to use Newbury 4x4 when we were based in Berks, admittedly for a Ninety, but they always did great job for me.

Just spotted this. I’m a long term customer of Nick Kerner (NK4WD). Now largely run by his son Ali.

Happy to recommend them. My car is with them at the moment (with Ali’s Disco in the drive as they’d run out of loan cars). Not the cheapest but good value for money. 2021 3.0 P400 Vogue
