[Wanted] L322 Rear Sills

Hi,

I'm asking a lot here, but if anyone is breaking or knows of anyone breaking an L322, I could really do with having a decent set of both rear side sills. MoT due next month and the sills on the car are an absolute mess with no chance of it passing.

Guess I should have brought an expert with me when I bought it.

Cheers

So the car restorer I took it too has just contacted me to say that he wants £1800 per side to repair the sills. Censored

That'll teach me to take somebody's word for it that there hasn't been any rust issues and not check for fiberglass repairs on top of untreated rust.

I'm hoping that if I can get sills from a breakers it will be cheaper than this garages quote.

Whereabouts in the country are you ?

If you're anywhere near the middle, look up "Froggys" restoration on Facebook, Toby and the boys will sort that for a lot less than £1800 a side I'd imagine ! 2011 Vogue SE Tdv8 FFRR

I'm in-between Milton Keynes and Northampton, will be looking around locally at other places and will also check out your suggestion.

Ah ok, yes I've seen these. That's the wheel arch outer, that doesn't reach down as far as I need or go in as deep into the doorway.

I know someone else on the forum had some of these going free recently as I believe they said their bodyshop wouldn't use them.

Cheers though. Thumbs Up

Try contacting gentlemen of salvage, I managed to get that section from them last year which was used to fix my sills.

With that extent of rust you will likely need part of the inner sill too and the jacking point reinforcement and possibly inner and outer wheel arch all the way round - don't ask how I know!!

Place that done mine mate was £600 for both sides but that's not colour matched as I was going to do the arches later on and get it sprayed up all in one go

Bean19844, where did you get yours done ? I don't mind painting myself as long as someone else does the metalwork.

It's a garage in Dagenham oxlow Lane called A1 auto centres. Speak to dave who manages the work load. If you look on my range rover thread "big blue v8" you'll see a few pics of what they done

So, as I hate posts that never finish with the end product, I thought I'd update everyone on what's happened.

I managed to pickup a pair of sills from eBay funnily enough from a 2004 RR in the same colour as mine for £100 a side, in fantastic condition.

Then my luck went further as I found a local welder who was happy to work on the RR as he's seen many in the past and he cut out the complete sills and lower arches and welded in the replacements. All for £320. Bow down

To say I'm cuffed with the result is an understatement, and really can't believe that another "bodyshop" wanted the best part of £4k to do both sides.

Thanks to everyone that offered up advice.

Thumbs Up
