One of the things I really dislike are the Velar door handles. 2 of my neighbours have Velars and both have had trouble getting into their cars when the door handles have failed.

I have to say I rather like it, strangely. I like it’s plainness and I think it just looks a modern version of what I already have.
I dread to speculate what the price will be, I would imagine it’s going to be way beyond my pocket and then some, oh and then some more. Some of the new stuff like remote parking and rear wheel steering is fairly innovative but most of its just built on what went before and feel the investment is way too much whatever the cost to look at investing in such a behemoth.
I’ve just driven from my home in Essex up to a place I’m staying at in Norfolk and my car has returned 38 mpg which is about the same as my wife’s Fiat 500. I have no doubt this was due in part to the roadworks and speed limits that I incurred on the way but goes to show what a big V8 can return wind driven carefully. I doubt the mild hybrids will do much better than that. I am a fan low of less is more and appreciate the interior finish and exterior come to that of no fuss. So really it’s all down to a lottery win or stick with what I have.

Out of interest, any ideas on how are the rear indicators visible with the hatch up? Say you have your hazards on for some reason while the hatch is open to off load by the side of the road or to replace a tyre etc.?

in a 'breakdown on the road' situation ,the logical solution would be to have the side lights flashing if the tailgate is up..i know these lights are red and probably illegal but safety come first.. ... - .- -.

Ah, I was configuring the LWB.

Car and Driver says that it is getting a 523 hp 4.4 liter turbocharged V8.

Which, I suppose, means that the rumours of a BMW V8 were true.

The smaller engines seem to be JLR Ingenium engines, looking at the specs, which also makes sense.

They were hardly rumours.

I’ve surprised myself by actually liking it (apart from the stuck on iPad).

Question is, would I be brave enough to be an early adopter guinea pig?

I really like what they have done, and I bet they drive well with the new twin valve dampers and the 48v electric antiroll sytem which should be a lot quicker to react.
