It's the same whenever a new car comes out. The same comments can be read on any forum, every time:

People who are getting a new one will extol its virtues
People who are not will always say the old model(s) are better because of XYZ

Facts always are:

The old models were probably very good cars for their time
Getting/keeping an old one will always be cheaper than owning the latest when taking into account depreciation
The latest model will be better in many ways and will make the older ones look and feel old

You pays your money and takes your choice and what makes one person happy will not necessarily make another happy.

I completely agree with everything you say 5.0, you are right, although I think there's a bit more to it than that.

There will also be a large number of people who are not getting a new one, (maybe for financial or other reasons), but they're still happy to tell you that the L460 looks like the best and slickest Range Rover ever built.

There will also be others, who could if they so wished, order a brand new model tomorrow but simply choose not to because of XYZ.

Furthermore, there are also people like "Very Disco" who have reverted back to an L322 having previously owned an L405. If somebody told me that I could only have one Range Rover, I would also choose the L322 over the newer L405 I'm (hopefully) taking delivery of next month. It's the older cheaper car but the one I prefer and the one I have the biggest attachment to.

So I think there are many different reasons for opinions.

With all that said, I do think you totally summed it up by saying:

"You pays your money and takes your choice and what makes one person happy will not necessarily make another happy".

That is all true. But increasingly often, the newer model is ugly so that stops people wanting to change. I’m not saying the new FF is, I’ll wait until I’ve seen one for real, but I can’t see myself ever buying a BMW again despite having had 3 in a row! MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

Well, will JLR products, there is another consideration:

The new model will have untold bugs. Even if you like it, you may not want the deal with the pain. So you have to hold off.

Given that JLR seem to have a constant stream of dubiously tested 'mid life cycle enhancements' which are often full of bugs, evidence from previous models shows that we are potentially exposed to "pain"at any point.

jlr have missed a trick here..if the rear trim with 'range rover' was lit up with the drl's [like the polestar] then that would have looked nice... ... - .- -.

I did go to the reveal at Gaydon, and with signing a non disclosure I know I have to be careful what is said.

Please wait and see the inside, especially the place where shiny ebony is “normally” located and wait until you see the switch and arm rest adjustment material. DREADFUL !!!!!!!! Dont get me started on the new “leather” seats.
