Hi all

My 2010 Vogue has only got the heated seats as factory standard I believe. Does anyone have any view on whether it's feasible to upgrade to the heated/cooled seats that I believe were standard in Vogue SE. I've had a quick search and can't see if anyone has done this?

I'm sure it's technically possible, but a lot of work for something you may not use that often....

You'd need new seats plus the 2 x peltier units etc that are under them. Then the control switch gear. These seats use air for heating and cooling - so it's a full seat swap.

I use mine a few times per year but not regularly - and I live in Bordeaux in the summer. They are nice, but a long way from essential IMHO - a bit like domestic air-con in the UK.

Never done it, but it’s a totally different seat, as you may know. The seats that are just heated use an element. Cooled seats don’t have an element at all, they use a peltier cell to both heat an cool. I find it’s not as good for heating, seems to take longer…. Not as good as my TD6 that had an element.

The leather will need perforations in it, to let the cooled air out, so you will have to swap out your rear seats too or the front and rear seats won’t match.

Not sure what else needs to be done…. The climate control panel obviously…. Possibly loom….

Good point on the heating - I've had cooled seats for over 10 years now, but remember when I first got them that the heating wasn't as quick.

I am no expert on this subject, but being an engineer, this seems like it would entail a awful lot of work for very little reward.
You could get seats from a donor car, BUT you still have all the wiring, power source and controls to consider, you could also source this lot from the donor car. Then you have to fit it all Ouch!!

Think it would be a lot easier to just change the car

IMO only, not worth it. They don’t cool as well as they heat, by a long way. They take too long to cool. They are noisey and the seat is ‘hard’ due to the ducting. 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster - Baltic Blue, Jet interior

I personally wouldn’t bother as the ducting often breaks burning out the heating/cooling peltier - the system isn’t robust enough.

However! When it works, i do like the cooling on a hot day! 1995 4.6 v8, green/tan (long gone)

I've got the cooled seats in my Vogue SE. They're a game changer in the hot weather.

Not sure I'd go to the lengths of retro fitting them though.

I think I should trade in my partner for a younger model who isn't menopausal, then I won't have to worry about cooled seats
