I have averaged 17 - 18mpg around town, on motorway & towing over 165,000 in total. It doesn’t seem to matter what kind of driving I do, it all averages out in the long run.

Did any of your high mileage 4.2's had alternator failure and at what mileage? I am cooming close to 170k on mine ajv8 so thinking of preventative replacment |

My alternator failed at about 100k, on removal the brushes had plenty of 'meat' left on them the bearings were fine but the rectifier had failed

At 150k I replaced all the pulleys belts tensioners alternator and the loom to the battery = all were in reasonable order and are in the garage as spares |
