Central locking module

My garage says that my failed central locking module cannot be replaced because the part is obsolete and chassis specific. My supercharged LS322 is in great condition and low mileage but unusable because of this. Are they right? Any suggestions other then scrapping the superb car I've owned for 10 years? many thanks for any responses

Is your garage a Land Rover Specialist? If not, find one who is and take it to them. I doubt very much it cannot be replaced either by a brand new part or a good second hand part from a breaker. There could also be a number of reasons it's not working e.g. a fuse
Have a look at this not sure if the symptoms are similiar.

Thanks for your thoughtful reply. Yes its an independent Land Rover specialist that's serviced this car for 10 years. They say this part is no longer available and that it's chassis specific so a used part won't work.

Like you, I'm sceptical so I'm taking it to another specialist next week. I can open the drivers door only by mechanical key and still drive it. wish me luck!

Further to the above advice -
If the rear tailgate unlocks, it could be in transport mode, just one of the possible problems. There are also repair options for some faults, as in the below links. Hope this helps

Don't know if the 2005 is the same as 2006, but there is also a video showing where the unit is and worth a check.
This is very short but could give you / garage some pointers
