Seat not extending fully

It appears my drivers seat does no longer fully extend. It goes fully forward but stops before fully extending backwards. Unfortunately it does not extend enough back to allow access to the front securing bolts so unable to see what the issue is.

Check nothing has got caught in the runners, change getting wedged in them is common..... also, if you put the seat all the way up it should help with getting to the front bolts... Thumbs Up Pete
I now have permission from the boss to use Y.O.L.O. Enjoy life

Thanks for reply and advice, the problem is the runner does not fully clear the torx bolt so can’t get the socket on. Hoping there is some other way.

Further to the above advice, as the seat extends fully forwards, whilst in forwards position check that the rear runner bolts are tight and that the toothed sections on the runners appear to be in good order. If one or both are loose then the runners may not be parallel / dislodged and could cause the sticking.
Seat position micro switches ? not sure but must be something to tell the motor to stop at the end of the travel.

Maybe try moving the seat backwards whilst pushing the base with your hand?

Not a fix for right now, but hope this helps with fault diagnosis.

Try an endoscope camera, if you or a mate has one, if not a USB one can be purchased for as little as £10 and connect it to your phone. Most have built in lights, I have used one on my fatty to help with fault finding, they are very handy and be easy to get under the seat.

Found the solution, on a Jaguar XF site !!

When you re configure some ECU’s modules you have to reset the clock, windows etc. Apparently it can also instigated a “stall process” in some of the preset settings for the seats. In this case within the seat module. The simple solution is similar to resetting the windows. Full extent of the movement, release the switch and then hold again for 5 seconds, the preset is then over ridden and allows full movement of the seat.

Useful info to know.
