L322 2012 Heated Seat Problems

Hi all, I know there are a few posts on problems with the heated seats but I have a peculiar issue and wondered whether anyone has encountered the same problem. In essence none of the heated seats work apart from the rear passenger (UK drivers side). The fans work on the front cooling and I've checked fuses... Any thoughts..??

Not sure if the same process is used to test later vehicles but found the following at https://www.rangerovers.net/threads/heated...003.32026/

Quote:
1 Press the heating switch with the ignition off
2 With the switch depressed turn on the ignition switch to Position II
3 Release the switch, this activates the self-test mode
4 After 10 seconds the flashing code is displayed.
The flashing code indicates the following faults
- 1 Flash — Switch overtemperature (T > 95°C)
- 2 Flashes — Short circuit and/or interruption in the sensor
- 3 Flashes — Short circuit and/or interruption in the heating elements.
With the switch set to test mode, maximum heating is selected and both lamps are lit. If a fault is identified the heating
is switched off and, after 10 seconds, the left LED switches off , this LED generates the flashing code. If no fault is
detected the LED remains unlit.
To return to the test mode the switch is pressed twice and the sequence starts again. To cancel the test mode the
ignition switch is turned off.

Do they work at all, even for a few seconds when first turned on?

If the above doesn't give any pointers then the 2010-2012 workshop manual has quite a lot of info about how to test seat heaters. DM me an email address if you need the individual pdf.

If all else fails then Abbey Auto Electrical in Sacriston seem ok, I've had a couple of minor things sorted on other cars there. Apparently they have the kit to diagnose / repair L322s.

Thanks for that I'll take a look.

Sadly no they don't work at all. The seat fan kicks in when I turn the heating side on but no heat. I can't believe the heating elements have gone on 3 of the 4 seats. I'll do some more research and thanks for the offer to send the pdf manual I'll drop you a DM when I've accrued a few more posts..!!

I think I read somewhere that when seat functions go down because of a cracked duct that they work for a few moments, cant remember where I read that though.

If the cooling is working then I think I would first check the power to the seats peltier cell (I believe there's more than one wire with power). While you're in there it would be a good idea to check the duct isnt cracked / detached.

I've sent a DM, not sure if you can reply before the post-count.

I'm about to take my car back to the garage that I bought it from for some warranty work. If they don't fix my front seats then count me in!

Dunc.
