My new to me 2011 Range Rover Autobiography

Hi all,

I’m only a few weeks into my ownership but this forum has helped out a fair bit already so thank you. My car is is a 2011 Range Rover Autobiography in (according to the spec sheet) Autobiography White and Jet/Pimento. This is a very Middle East combination and will not be to everyone’s taste. I’ve been living expat out here for 14 years so I’ve gotten used to white cars with red interiors. It’s a bit tatty around the edges but I’m slowly chipping away at it.

So far I’ve cleaned the interior, refurbed the wheels, changed the drop links, oil changed, flushed the brake fluid, engine air filter, cabin filter, ac regas, calibrated the ride height with IID, alignment done, interior LED’s, vacuum shampoo the carpets and restored the headlights (they take a pounding in the sun and sand here). I’m limited with time plus it’s still way over 30 degrees after the sun goes down and humid as hell, so I’m losing weight while I’m working in the car bonus!

Still to do (although I fear this list will never really end) gearbox and diff fluid, get the jacking cover plates painted and fitted and probably a back bumper respray.

I love the colour combo.

What product did you use on the headlights?

I got an autogylm headlight restoration kit for 20 quid-ish off Amazon. Plug sequentially finer sand paper into a drill and away you go, loads of videos on YouTube for very beginner DIYers like me.. Each headlight took about half and hour. My headlights are nowhere perfect but they did start of in a pretty bad state, however they much better now. Ideally I’d replace the lense but I’ve read later cars have have a particularly tricky sealant on them that is a major Pain to remove.

Great thanks - i have some issues on my beach car - sand and salt really take their toll on the poor old thing.

Cheers. All things transport - big or small, UK or planetwide.
