Nearly bought an L322 - Nearly!

My first topic on here!

Looked at a L322 yesterday, I want another 4x4 as a third car to use as a utility vehicle really, to replace my Mk3 Shogun which is being picked up today and on it's way to another adventure.

The Shogun was a project car really, and now it no longer needs anything I want another project.

Looked at a 2011 TDV8 Vogue yesterday, "some" history and the guy has worked on it himself, recent oil and filter change etc.

By my reckoning it looks in good shape, needs the wheels refurbing and the tailgate has some edge corrosion which he mentioned on his advert.

It looks like the gearbox oil pan is original which leads me to believe it's not been serviced, and the front suspension has a knock so its likely it needs some new control arms/bushes.

Everything else seems ok, tailpipes not oily, EGR's not done however.

I've offered the guy a bit less to cover the couple of bits above and am still waiting for him to come back to me. Wish me luck.

If you want to see my Shogun work, I detailed it all on FB.. take a look!

I'm after an L322.... Done a fair bit of research but never seen one up close or in fact driven one. Therefore no benchmark so to speak of. Until last Saturday whereby I broke the cardinal rule of buying the first one I looked at. Pick it up Saturday. Enjoy the hunt Very Happy

I've had the Shogun two and a half years now and done about 3000 miles in it, I just think it's time to move it on.
It's the 3.5 GDi and it wont run on E10 petrol apparently so it would be super only and at 16mpg on average that is pretty savage!

It is so good off road though, especially with centre and rear lockers. That engine is sweet too as it gets down the road pretty well.

Onwards and hopefully upwards. I like a bit of fiddling and now the Mitsi is done, I have nothing more to do to it. They're so bulletproof I have no tinkering to do. I know that RR will always keep me busy Rolling with laughter

Caesium, welcome to the dark side. I bought my first ever RR with very little research, and have got away with it, up to a degree, but then I joined this forum and stated reading, that's when the cold sweats started!!!!

You should be fine as you obviously know your onions Sir. Good luck Thumbs Up

Pete....Love the Paj pics, nice piece of kit, and that is some quite aggressive driving Sir
whoever took the lower 'Apollo mission' pic must have been brave Shocked

Bought my first L322 on Monday after lots of looking, reading up and changing my mind. In the end I went for a high mileage late one for a cheap price reasoning that if it all goes T**s up I won't have lost my shirt + I have a healthy repair budget. Still enough to make me wonder what I've done Embarassed but after 160 miles down the M1 this was at least encouraging as far as my fuel bill at least ( this is on 255/55 R20's so maybe real word is even better)
