Well the FFRR is no more.. traded it in tonight (with a tear in my eye) on a Pathfinder. I have loved the luxury of the FFRR Vogue but the bills over the last 18 months have been just too much to keep it mint. With other things beginging to pile up I decided enough was enough.

We're off Caravaning to "run in" the new to us Pathfinder '08 with 40 thou on. When I get back I will have a number of FFRR items for sale which I'm sure will be of interest.

Its been great reading the forum and I'll keep an eye on here now and again to see how faults pan out Shocked . This is my first none Landrover 4x4 ... just hoping that it doesn't cost like the FFRR.

Sorry you've got rid of it- also have to be the bearer of bad news about the pathfinder...


There's a good chance, seeing as they actually work, that you won't learn as much about their systems, dealer network, or Censored customer service.

You'll get so bored of just driving it!

Seriously though hope you'll stick around and good luck with the PF!

sorry to hear that mate..

i had a navara d40 which is basically a pathfinder without the back bit and found it to be very capable 4x4..it was a bit more basic inside than the full fat with less toys but thats just less things to go wrong i suppose.. ... - .- -.

I also had a Navara for a while... Hope you don't have the same issue with the clutch, flywheel and gearbox switches or indeed the rear view mirror which was £600!! Service items are a lot more expensive - £175 for rear brake shoes...

got rid of my money pit too, now we have a brand new s-max titanium s, and it starts everytime and the best of all, no error messages Cool 2002 td6 vogue, 06 supercharged facelift

Well , nearly 1000 miles under the belt on the Pathfinder towing the twin axle... and no its not a FFRR. The trim refinement isn't quite the same but its ticking all the boxes regards what I need rather than what I'd like. No fake wood in sight, full leather, rounded corner rectangular cup holders WTF?

The good points so far, better economy. The extra row of seats made for a very peaceful trip with three kids spaced out (distance - not drugs Laughing ) to prevent world war III. The boot still has more space than the good wifes Freelander with the rear row of seats up.

I got a Mammoth Sports spec.. so it has a "Bird view" sat nav which is better in some respects (graphics & user friendlyness) but I was disappointed it didn't do postcodes Neutral .. still not touch screen either.

Tows in a more than capable manner although on paper is a little under the power of the FFRR TD6, but to be honest you can't tell at all maybe though being 5 years newer helps Whistle ... though this is a manual so you have more direct influence over the gear changes. Six gears too Thumbs Up One thing I did miss , especially on a trip through Longleat Safari park was the ability to use Low box without locking up 4wd. I did use low when towing the caravan down the drive just to give a little more low speed control and the axles were soon locking up when I came to turn.. something you would never have noticed on the FFRR... though I still need to sit down and read the Pathfinder Manual to understand exactly what is locking up when.. settings are 2WD, AUTO, 4 Hi ,4 Low. On the bright side.. if they are all locked up its less likely to get stuck.. I did enjoy flicking in to low on the FFRR in slow moving traffic.. appears to be less of an option on the Pathfinder.

I could have got more out of a Disco HSE I guess, but I'd have had to add £5,000 to the deal and ended up with a car three years older than the Pathfinder with an extra 20,000 miles on Rolling Eyes .... and given the FFRR experience I just need some time out so its a no brainer as they say! Maybe once I recover from the cost of running the FFRR and the cash point shows a "Left bank too rich..." error I'll get another one Laughing

Yeah.. once I found reverse it was great Embarassed as a standard feature (compared to having to retro fit on my FFRR) it was good... more of a wide angle than I'm used to and the lines on screen to guide as so the space required was an improvement over my last home brewed camera. It was also useful hitching up as well.

I do miss the PDC mind.. probably due to sitting what feels like 5 inches lower than the FFRR. I'm sure I'll end up fitting a set rear and probably front too. They don't cost the earth and I'll fit it descreately so it doesn't look a pigs ear. 2010 Disco XS TDV6, 2009 Freelander 2 GS
