Here in the UK it is illegal to use a vehicle on the public road if the DPF is deleted/removed if it was fitted at the factory. The companies that you mention can offer the service but this is for vehicles that won't be driven on public roads. There was no mention of them offering "false services" as you put it. 2011 TDV8 Vogue SE

nigor: It's got absolutely nothing to do with saving the world, I think you're missing the point, I'm trying to save your engine that wasn't designed to have the egr/dpf removed. If you want to delete them, carry on, it doesn't worry me in the slightest what you do, have the gearbox remapped & blow the Censored out of it, I'm not worried. Nigor, No mate, if you remove the EGR and DPFs I understand the exhaust temps and other stuff do not get managed properly. I don’t mean from a conservation point of view, I mean from a heat under the bonnet point of view.

Other markets don’t have a DPF, but I still think they have EGR.

Of course you can remove them both, but the remap etc would have to allow for this. It’s not as simple as a few years ago.

If you can find someone to do it, and get your remap done, let us know how you get on.

Our South African cars have EGR with CAT but without DPF.Would like to know about the EGR remove.

After about one minute of idle the EGR opens and then the v8 sounds very nice!! 2012 TDV8 Vogue SE 4.4

Let's bear in mind we've never had anyone come forward saying they have successfully deleted EGR and DPF on a 4.4.

I know one guy who had the double delete and is busily reverting to stock because his car wouldnt run - I gave him the DPF.

What concerns me is there are loads of people with this done on a 3.6 vs very few to none on a 4.4.

I have researched it thoroughly with, a Chief LR Tech of 18 years experience, Joe Rose who has raced and modded 4x4s all his life at national level (used to own Muddy Bottom near Beaulieu) and taken the opinion of one of the original LR L322 design team. The conclusion we have all drawn is there is insufficient evidence to ensure 4.4 EGR and DFPF deletion is a robust or reliable mod - the engine gets too upset. I think the legalities of it are intrinisic to the topic, not least if it gives someone who didnt know better some guidance and keeps them out of trouble. It doesn't hurt to have affiliated info on the thread.

Finally to our chum Nigor in Estonia, I think some of your thoughts got lost in translation. However, this is a pleasant and civil forum. If you prefer bellicose and conflictiual dialogue, Reddit is your oyster, it doesn't belong here.

I hear you mate.
As I have dug a little deeper into this I've come to understanding, that may be the best solution will be not to touch anything physically, but to alter the work of the emissions system within the ECU program.
Because EGR-unit is bonded together with other units/systems, it is rather a difficult job to undergo.

Also if you understand the principles of the emission control system you'll know that DPF is included because of the EGR, it wouldn't be necessary without an EGR.
That's because EGR is responsible for the making of the soot particles hence it by its essence is meant to lower the combustion temperature to lower NOx in emissions by introducing burnt exhaust gasses back to the intake. So, in turn, we get more soot because lower combustion temperature means more soot and vice versa.

We also know that DPF needs regular regens because of the soot build-up generated by the EGR. And a regen simply means burning off this soot build-up by increasing exhaust gas temperatures.
If we look at live values during this process, we can see that EGR is closed at this time (to increase combustion efficiency and therefore temperature), and also additional fuel is injected at the exhaust cycle (to increase exhaust-gas temperature furthermore to speed up DPF regen).
And the amount of fuel wasted for this regen process is rather notable. Cruising at 100 km/h fuel consumption increases 50-60% according to my observations.

So by my theory, DPF delete is not necessary with EGR delete, because soot build-up is a co-problem of EGR and with EGR gone, soot quantity decreases significantly.
And because EGR is so intricately constructed, it would be easiest to try to shut off EGR valve permanently in ECM program and remap other parameters accordingly to eliminate any errors.
This way it would be easy to return to original settings if things aren't working.

That's what I've thought about.

The DPF's function in not to filter out soot created from the EGR. Soot is mostly created under load which is when the EGR is shut anyway.

That's where you're wrong my friend.

Soot is basically unburnt fuel, so in a healthy engine without EGR there is not much soot generated, especially under load when temperatures increase. That's simple physics.

When you get soot/black smoke under load, there is definitely something wrong with the engine (could be lots of things: Injectors, pump, intake, turbos, coolant temp. any of the sensors etc.)

At least for 4.4 TDV8 your theory also doesn't work. I've observed and analyzed a lot of live data from my fatty and soot generation notably decreases under load.
