Hi Jez000

Oh yeah, I got some news alright.......

Yesterday I was told I should expect my car in approximately 6 months time, although that date may improve!!!!

And apparently I'm one of the lucky ones - Lead time is now 12 months for orders currently being placed on the L405, which JLR are still accepting.

I'm getting tired of chasing to be honest. It's not good as my order was placed back in late April!!!

Seems the HUD which has only recently been removed from my build, was what was causing the delay in confirming the order.

I'll just wait and see what comes, not much more I can do I guess.

I'm assured I'll still receive what I've ordered but time will tell.

Oh dear, thats not encouraging. I Hope that timeline improves at some point, I guess the only small bit of good news is they have not cancelled all together. 2021 P400 Silicon Silver AB

It’s happening across manufacturers, the chip shortage isn’t going to be sorted until well into next year, it seems. LR have apparently stopped taking orders for Hard Top Defenders now.

Thanks Jez / Philip...... I'm just going to sit back and wait now.

If I get what I've ordered, then great....... If not, and my order gets un-slotted / changed to an L460, then I expect to be near the front of the queue.

If the new car arrives and I don't like it, then I'm sure someone will buy a new delivery miles L460 at a profit.

Will keep you posted on how it progresses Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

I consider myself lucky then, I ordered 22nd May and should receive the car next week (so just under 4 months). It may be that I had very little options other than 360 surround cameras, and went for the D300.

I think it's a combination James - I think the D300's are coming out of the factory slightly quicker, combined with not too many options, will have almost certainly helped you.

However, I believe my biggest set back has been my supplying dealer who has been useless and didn't tell me that HUD was what was stopping my build from being slotted!!

Thankfully, this was info I obtained from fellow FFRR members, without them, I'd still be sat in a holding pool!!!

This delay seems to have pretty much put me back at square one!!! - So a waste of four and a half months really.

Never mind...... I guess the only upside is that I've ordered this car primarily for transporting the dogs to Europe, so as I won't be going anywhere now until next Spring, I suppose it's not the end of the world - Annoying all the same though.

Will they even still be making the L405 then?

L405 production is essentially finished.

I find it a little astonishing in this day and age of social media and everyone knowing everyone else's business that there isn't at least one person within JLR who hasn't leaked information about production dates for end of L405 and start of L460.

I mean, let's be honest, if the government and MI5/6 can't keep secrets, how the hell are JLR managing it?

Unless of course, the decision as to when L405 production ends hasn't yet been made so it's all guesswork Shocked Shocked 2021 D350 Fifty Edition

I would agree...... And to be honest, until confirmed by JLR it's all speculation and guess work.

I was told by one of the dealers back in May, that the new model was to be launched imminently, yet here we are in September and still it hasn't appeared.

Some say that L405 production is now finished, but really, has it?

And if so, why don't JLR make their life easier and stop taking orders for the L405 - Surely it would be much simpler to just tell the dealers to stop taking orders for the current model, and allow all those that are desperate for the new one to start paying deposits - Surely this would be so much easier than having to deal with countless unhappy customers - I really don't see the logic.

I can't see any reason at all why JLR wouldn't choose to do this instead....... Then again, maybe I'm missing something?

It’s all speculation.

Philip posted just last week that transporters full of L405s are still leaving the factory.

Maybe JLR just don’t have chips but have all the other bits, so still need to make some cars when the chips come in.\\

As an aside. BMW & Mercedes were in The Times today saying they are going to keep top end cars in short supply and lock in the higher prices,. JLR. May be having a bit of the action as well???? ~ Frankly I’m getting a bit weary of the FullFat price… Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits.
