The Bermuda Triangle in Cambridgeshire

This rather strange occurrence happened on my old RRS as well as my 2015 FF.
When driving West from Cambridge to Huntingdon on the new A14 the satnav shows me on a route somewhere in the fields of Cambridgeshire, quite normal as it’s a relatively new road and not in my satnavs database. When I rejoin the original A14 west of the A1 at Brampton the sat nav picks up the route and carries on.
On the return journey, following the same route but in reverse, (East) the satnav goes off into the fields but when I rejoin the old A14 near Cambridge it will not pick up the route and goes off wherever it feels like. Cancelling guidance and re-entering the destination when back on known roads does not recover it and it stays AWOL until the car is shut own and restarted.

As said previously this happened in my previous RRS and every time I drive this route.

Anyone else seeing something similar?

What year is your car? Is it the new facelift before 2020?

I had exactly what you describe in another area of the country around Northampton. All LR cars from 1984

It’s a 2015 Autobiography. The main reason for asking it that exactly the same thing happens each time I drive this route but I haven’t encountered it on other new roads not on the database.

I'd think your satnav needs updating. I had all sorts of trouble with the satnav in my 2018 Facelift car which wasn't resolved until the dealer installed the latest 2020 software ( in fact a completely new MCU was fitted). Don't know if it can be done in your car though. All LR cars from 1984

Phil, I drive that route quite often but never had an issue. Mind I don’t use the Satnav other than as a map display. It does look weird when driving the new stretch of the A14 apparently through fields, but it always picks up the road again at Bar Hill.

My car is a 2016 MY so will have the same nav as your car.

Thanks Andy, when I’ve just got the map on all is well but if I’ve got a route selected it goes off on one.
Last time returning from Wales just using the Satnav to see what it would do.
I have never found the LR Satnavs very good but found this interesting and wondered if others had seen problems with new roads.
An update (if possible) may fix it but frankly I would begrudge giving a main dealer the money for something that I don’t use much.

They’re not the best. I had a 2011 Freelander 2, built in Liverpool and when I went to Liverpool for work in early 2012, the satnav couldn’t find the place I was looking for…. Pretty sure every LR I’ve had since the 2009 RRS HSE has the same basic system (a hard drive with dealer only updates). I rarely use the destination finder as it gives really odd routes but if I’m stuck, I use my phone because that I know is always up to date.
