the deployable side steps sieze up whether you hit a rock or not - not much you can do with them except bin them unfortunately.

Put it this way, they don't fit the loom then weld the tailgate together, so, whatever they have done can be undone and redone... There are very small Co-ax leads going to your central locking aerial that are very difficult to join after cutting, and IIRC there are some can bus type leads and you can ruin them very easily...
