Romanian car gang

This came up on my Facebook feed this morning from a chap in Hertfordshire.

Hertfordshire area warning!

A group of 3 males came today after contacting me about my RR on autotrader, they were driving the BMW seen on Romanian plates TR 25 NRG. They used distraction techniques of getting me to take the spare wheel out to check for water ingress and electrical issues, when I then started the car an insane number of warnings came up. I have then found that of them has poured oil into the coolant bottle, and assume snipped/unplugged stuff somewhere. They were then angry I wouldn't accept a lower offer for the car, obviously being completely bewildered where these issues came from.

If anyone can help maybe work out whats been unplugged? I'm seeing transmission/suspension/parking brake/hdc fault on the dash. Thanks.

Be careful out there guys…..

Jim

Selling a high value car privately is a rollercoaster. Selling via this site to members is a much calmer experience. Else sell to the trade if you don’t want the hassle of gangs, numpties and wannabes. L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso

And this is why sellers are asking for money upfront before the test drive. If its a genuine buyer they wouldn't have no trouble doing that as they will either have a car or the money. Same way it works when you buy a motorbike.

I've had a group of Eastern Europeans ask me about my impreza on my drive way and they wanted too look under the engine bay on their own. I knew what they was upto but as the engine is out somewhere else told them sure help yourself. Soon as they see an empty engine bay they stormed off n started shouting a few choice words at me in their own language.
