I was going to post about the GLS. I drove one for a fortnight in Florida as a hire car - brilliant for those roads.
My father-in-law liked it so much he now has one here. I think it feels big on our little lanes etc. but the tech on board helps to minimise that, the thing is festooned with cameras. But, it will never feel like a Rangie. For all the trick electric folding seven seats and the cavernous boot, it's still just a pumped up Merc estate. A great car, for sure. But very different from what a Rangie offers.

This is why I have just bought an L322, I'm no longer forcing my Defender to be something it is not and I couldn't see myself in an X5/Q7/GLS or whatever. 2012 L322 TDV8 Vogue SE: Buckingham Blue

Hi everyone,

Yes I have reserved it and going back there again today to talk directly to the service department manager who will explain what they can do to the car in order to prepare it for handing over to me in about a weeks time.

They have stuck to their guns in terms of the price no matter what.
What do you think about the price of £43, is it adequate for a 2016 (basically a 2017, registration date is 29th of December 2016) Autobiography? It has HUD, Retractable panoramic roof and a steering wheel with wood inserts (I believe that is it in terms of the extra options). I plan on keeping the car for 5-6 years.

What I've been promised though is that they will prepare the car to its best possible state considering its age.
Prior to me looking at the car the said that all four rims will be refurbished; body will be polished and stone chips will be touched up; all brake discs and pads will be changed and the car will be serviced too.
I test drove it for about half an hour and tried all the usual things that I do (rock crawl -> accelerating with wheel turned all the way to either side to test transmission; emergency braking to hear for front suspension knocks; driving dioganally over a speed bump to again check for any knocks in suspension and also tested everything inside).
What I couldn't get to work is the blind spot assist (maybe I'm misunderstanding how it should work) and also lane keep assist seemed too late to react, I would cross the solid line on the road and only then there would be any input to the steering from that system...

Attaching a few pictures to show some of the imperfections I was able to spot that they said will be rectified.

One additional development is that I've been sent a copy of the service history and the car had its last service carried out not by the dealership but by an LR specialist garage.
Although I've been told earlier that all services have been done by the main dealer.

Great Buy it, it looks great and dont worry about the last service its not an issue. Its only oil and filter changes etc and I see the brake fluid has been changed. Its all been done by a competent garage so warranty is no issues. Its a LR approved vehicle anyway so they have excepted that last service.

Maybe Ask if there is a print out of all the warranty jobs done on the car.

Also dont forget to register for Incontrol Remote & Secure the 1Y fee is £260 if you buy the 2Y package its £416 its a no brainer as you are keeping for over 2Y anyway.

Oh and disable keyless entry immediately.

How many miles on it ? It doesn't look great either imo . Some people just do not look after their RR,s.

Hi everyone,

Car has been in my posession for about a month now.
Love the L405 and the diesel V8 is a wonderful engine.

One thing that I don't understand how to setup and am starting to feel like it wouldn't do it, is automatically change speed when on an adaptive cruise control.
It reads the road signs correctly but carries on doing i.e. 70mph when I've just driven into a 50mph zone. It appears to be something to do with an adaptive speed limiter, but I can't seem to set it up correctly.
Any advice on this would be of great help.

As for some of the negatives the parking sensor on the front right side is behaving erratically, it just beeps as if I've driven into something when there is nothing there.
And today I noticed how the top right side of the driver's door is rubbing against a bonnet.
My first thought was that the car has been involved in some accident and either the door or the bonnet has been misaligned when put back together, but there is absolutely no evidence of any work done to the car in that area.
All the bolts are original and don't appear to have been touched.
Puzzled by how this could have happened and what could have led to this.

I too would like to know how to set the cruise control to recognise the speeds and change.

Let me know if you have figure this out?

On both my facelift cars from 2018, the adaptive speed limiter shows as an orange icon when it is active. If it is a white icon it is not in "adaptive" mode. To set the adaptive mode you have to press the limiter icon on the steering wheel and then press "set" to activate the "adaptive" bit.

Should also say, you have to tick the box which shows on the dash via the menu button too. All LR cars from 1984

Is this for the speed limiter or the adaptive cruise control?

I have the speed limit being adaptive but not the Cruise Control FFRR 2018

No it's for the Limiter. Don't know about adaptive cruise control as don't have it. I only have normal cruise control.

Are you sure the road sign recognition works in conjunction with Adaptive Cruise Control? I thought it only worked in conjunction with the Speed Limiter? All LR cars from 1984

That is what we are trying to find out.

Traffic sign is working a treat.

On my VW it would adjust the speed of the cruise control to match the speed from the camera or data on the maps.

Its seems strange that the FFRR does the limiter but not the adaptive cruise control.

It might not be a function that its capable of doing, which is fine.

But like I say seems strange to do it on limiter (no point) and not on the CC.

I think it works well with the Limiter.

If you are doing 39mph coming into a 30mph limit it brings you down to 30mph, which saved me a speeding fine about three weeks ago with a policeman and a radar gun standing in a layby as I came round the corner!! All LR cars from 1984
