TDV8 - Throttle Issue

Hi guys.

Strange throttle iss ue with my 3.6 TDV8 L322 2007.

Every so often, when i start her up, she idles at about 500 rpm and the throttle pedal will not work.
If you turn it off and restart it, it still doesnt work.
If you lock it and leave it, it still wont work upon re-start.

However, if you disconnect the battery, wait for 5 minutes, re-connect and re-start, it wil be OK without an issue.
This has happened about 5 times in the past 12 months and ive always got around it.

Yesterday it happened, and the battery disconnect trick didnt work. So, assuming the worst, i put it in Low Range and crawled to a positin that i could get recevered from. As it picked up momentum down a gentle slop, it suddenly burst back into action and the throttle worked again!

I know i need to read the codes, but after disconnecting the battery each time, i get a million faults crop up!!

So, any ideas on the cause?

Many thanks

Rob.

I would take a look at the throttle body butterfly to see if it is covered in gunge. My 4.4 tdv8 was plastered with muck a few mm deep causing it to slightly stick from idle.

I agree with Kevin, first look at the throttle body, although mine is a 4.4 with one, I think yours has 2.

I'm not familiar with the 3.6 and no doubt someone who is will be along soon but it sounds a little like my problem when, not long ouut of warranty (as is always the case) the throttle started making the engine revs hunt at tickover and then failed. I put it down to the amount of gunge causing the unit to stick, then hunt and the gearing to fail after a while.

The workshop manual is in the wiki
