Is this the water pump starting to fail?

So I pulled up on the driveway earlier, got out and walked around the front of the car and got a whiff of hot coolant.
The expansion tank was low also. Took off the intake plenum and had a look around the front and saw this.

Is this a sign that the pump is leaking? I would assume so. I’m a bit disappointed as I fitted a new pump last year when I did the chains and tensioners.
Any other ideas?

what make/brand is your pump? it is normally the bearings that go wobbly and then leak. I fitted a Hella in the end. Cant remember the first crappy brand that broke a year later but it was stg like Allbrand. Rubbish!!

It was a genuine Land Rover one from my local dealership. Dunno if I have any comeback on the parts as I fitted it myself. A Solihull born Pom in Oz
