I think CTC is spot on with his comments, get a second opinion from someone who knows what they are doing, if that dealer suggested such an action to me, my reply would not be printable on here.

As said above, take it to a specialist, the main dealer will just fire the parts cannon at it till they get lucky .Had a similar issue with my old D4. Main dealer said it would need front arms etc. but these had just been changed. A specialist who I used correctly diagnosed it as needing a transfer box flush and reset. Cured it straight away at relatively small cost Paul

Thank you, I’m shocked at the lack of trust there is with main dealers. A lesson learnt. You get the free coffee and all the bullshit, but they don’t seem to be as clued up as the indies!

Main dealers pay bottom dollar for staff, most of the guys working there are fitters, not mechanics. They can plug in a computer, read a fault and then replace stuff as per the work through for the fault code, but that's about it...

A mate of mine recently had his 3.6 tdv8 sport in the main dealers for a 4 wheel alignment. While there they told him he was due a timing belt swap and quoted him over a grand to do it . He rang me the following day to ask if I knew anyone any cheaper to do. n Paul

This was one of my pet hates when searching for a L405... FULL Main dealer history, but when you looked into it, it was the absolute bare minimum. Sold - Bell a 2015 MY16 Loire Blue Autobiography 4.4 SDV8 Previously George a 2007 MY07 Java Black VSE 3.6 TDV8 Previously a 04 MY04 Defender 90 |
