How much data do I need for my SIM contract?

Going to get a SIM for my MY17. I won't need it as a Wifi hotspot, just for the Apps and the over the air software updates.

But I'm getting tight in my old age so how much data a month should I get? is 1GB per month enough? (only £5 p/m on Three) 2017 Loire Blue 3.0TDV6 Vogue

I don't think that's very much, for instance if your kids watched YouTube at HD for an hour that data allowance would pretty much be gone. So it does depend on how you intend to use it, general browsing on the internet would use about 60MB/hour. 2021 L405 Vogue D300

Sorry just read your post again Smile, for over the air updates then I expect that would be fine but I am not sure how large the bigger map updates are. Question though don't you need to be subscribed to LR InControl to carry on getting map updates anyway which should provision the embedded SIM? 2021 L405 Vogue D300

I think you get 2GB/mth on Three? But you could get 4GB/mth for £6 or £5.25 with Smarty who are also on Three's network.

I’ve got a 24 month / 24gb data sim from Three Mobile, £45 on Amazon so £1.88 a month. I use it mainly for live traffic but also software downloads and sending addresses to the car. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

Without hotspot, 1gb a month is plenty and probably 500mb is enough. Hmmm, I guess depending on mileage because the satnav functions will be consuming traffic data. I am a low mileage drive and I use wifi hotspot, so don’t listen to me!! L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso

I agree with Ilard, 1GB should be plenty but my 500mb ran out in 3 weeks on my Ubigi card supplied with the new car. I turned off Hotspot and I've used 180mb in 20 days and about 800 miles. Thumbs Up All LR cars from 1984

In 6 hours of [slow] driving for 110 miles over 2 weeks, I have gobbled through 6 GB. I think I might have a leak. L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso

On my present and previous cars I found the LR supplied sim fine, which I think allows 500Mb a month, and on the cars before that I used the free 3 data sim, which gives 200Mb free per per mont, again that seemed plenty.

Yes, that's exactly what I had and my new car is 500mb per month but I think I will either top up with Ubigi or get a 3 Sim (Internet with legs)which gives 24gb for 24 months at about £44 then I know I won't run out! Thumbs Up All LR cars from 1984
