That’s correct .. but I like to get mine done in the summer, because if it needs anything doing, much better to get it sorted before it gets to the cold winter months.

It just proves that preventative maintenance, modest miles (but not too modest, as that’s probably worse than mega miles) and an eye for detail and these can be trouble free. Car looks great btw.

Another year has passed and B.B. is Ten years old.

The same mechanic has done the MOT test for the last 5 years, but because I have moved house during the year I have had to find a new garage.
Thanks to Lee ( Nearlee ) who recommended this local 4x4 independent garage, Mills 4x4 in Llanfairfechan, and today was the big day when a new pair of eyes got to do the honours.

I am pleased to report it passed with no advisories and the only comment,” you’ve got a beauty”
Not surprising really given that it has only done 2,383 miles in the year thanks to the 3 COVID lockdowns.

One interesting bit of maths that may give some food for thought.
When my Approved Used warranty expired 6 years ago, JLR wanted £1600 for an extra year of cover, plus the cost of a MD annual service.
I declined the offer because I wanted to do my own oil and filter changes , air filters, cabin filter, fuel filter etc. , and bank the savings for the big jobs when required to pay an independent garage.
6 x £ 1600 = £9,600.
I suppose I have been lucky, but am quids in.

Just to keep this thread running,
MOT No8 passed today , still no advisories.

I can’t recommend too highly treating any car you intend keeping long term to a Full Dinitrol treatment .
It’s 8 years since I got BB done and still today it’s better than new underneath., and gets commented on every year.
