You can always look for a BMW 540 or 740 vehicle in good condition, rob the engine & scrap the rest.....MOT failure be ideal?

The BMW M62 is an eight-cylinder V engine from BMW and the successor to the M60 engine range. The engines were produced from 1996 to 2005 and installed in the BMW models 8er E31 , 7er E38 , 5er E39 and X5 E53 . Furthermore, they were z. As the Range Rover from Land Rover , Bentley Arnage and in the Morgan Aero 8 used.

These days you'll struggle for an E39/E38 for less than the cost of an engine. An E53 X5 might be possible but OP, make sure you find an M62 as the facelift versions had an N62. 2005 E60 M5 2006 L322 4.2 SC 2020 Tesla Model S Long Range -------- 2004 L322 4.4 Vogue, 2019 NP300 Navara, 2016 NP300 Navara, 2002 L322 4.4 HSE, 2006 (MY07) L322 S/C ,2001 330Ci Sport Track Car, 2005 650i Coupe, 2001 P38 Vogue, 2003 530i Sport Touring, 1999 P38 4.6 HSE, 2002 E39 M5, 1995 300zx TT Slicktop, 1997 M3 Evo, 1992 300zx TT Targa, 1998 323i Coupe |

just an update, did not get my money back, but the seller sent us another engine ( but with a few more miles on it - but confirmed at 120,000 miles) so far it looks spot on with new timing chains and guides replaced, new head gaskets, new front and rear crank oil seals and has 60 days guarantee - so will get it fitted ASAP in the next week or so
