knocking

Got a knocking noise when going over bumps, sounds like its coming from the nearside front, both my lower arms and balljoints have been done. So anything else known to go around the front suspension on these bloody needy machines? 2004 black Vogue TD6

Drop links, ARB D bushes, Track rod ends.

TRE is the most likely

Mine turned out to be the anti-roll bar links. £15 each and an hours labour for the pair...

Thanks guys,

did have a look today but couldn't see\feel anything obvious, but when going over a speed bump with just the right then left wheel it did knock both times, so backing up what you guys are saying, the anti roll bar links.

This an easy job? 2004 black Vogue TD6

The guy seems to mostly sell links for various cars and i went through a few pages of his feedback and all seem happy with them, ok not a long term test but i could buy the 70quid land rover ones and still have the knocking. At 14 quid i might as well shotgun with cheap parts until its gone.

looks like very easy job compared to the balljoints, well as long as the rusty lower nuts crack before i lose my temper... Laughing , have wire brushed the ends and soaked them in wd40 today. Should be able to do in off road height at full lock without even taking the wheels off...we will see.... Whistle 2004 black Vogue TD6

Thanks guys, drop links it was.

Cheap part looked OK, original had some spot welds on the joins, these didnt, but did come with nylon locking nuts which make sense. Time will tell but for 14 quid thats a cheap range rover fix... Laughing

Easy job, didnt even take the wheels off, 4 bolts done in normal height with wheels at full lock, off road looked to put some tension on the anti roll bar. 18mm extended socket and 18mm flat spanner to hold other side.

for search reference;

At 80k i had;

Front Creaking = lower balljoints, i replaced the whole lower arms with balljoints. parts approx £65 pair. Bit of a pain in the arse job and wouldnt do it myself again. pay the hours labour at the garage

Front Knocking = drop links. easy job parts £14 pair, £70 land rover. half labour at the garage

Thanks again... Thumbs Up 2004 black Vogue TD6
