Looking for recommendations on a front and rear dash cam set up for my, new to me, 405

Im looking for the same thing. I saw a setup for an evoque that fits into the rear view mirror mounting and is really discrete. Has anyone seen something similar for an L405?

I'm thinking about installing a dashcam into my L405 also. For me, it would have to be incredibly discrete, ie. almost unnoticable, because I hate non-oem equipment stuck on windscreens etc. I previously installed a K2S dual remote lens dasham into my old Range Rover Sport . However, I found this unit to have a few bugs and even though I removed it from my old car before I sold it, I don't fancy re-installing it into the L405 for this reason.

Now though, there is a new kid on the block in terms of ultra-discrete dashcams. The Street Guardian SG9663DR from Australia. This unit is meant to be incredibly reliable according to the reviews over on the dashcamtalk forum . It can be bought in Europe from Hiniko.com. I think I might bite the bullet on this one soon. Kev

I had the LR dashcam fitted to my new car before collection. It is very good, simple, a good image, and it does not give a "draining the battery" alarm like a Blackvue in Parking mode. The app is really good and user-friendly

Only slight con is the rear cam is fitted to the top of the window whereas when I had Blackvue cams in my old car it was fitted to the bottom and more discreet. All LR cars from 1984

No, you can buy it as an accessory so should fit all model years I would have thought. All LR cars from 1984

As the kit is designed for t to go at the top, I take it you have to extend the wiring?

No need to lengthen leads as more than enough cable supplied in the kit sir 👍

Because the kit fits multiple models including the LWB RR! JLR don’t scrimp on the length of cables 👍

Please be aware, after issues with getting a JLR dash cam to work in my 2014, I received this from Robin at Duckworths:

'this product is only meant for 2020 models onwards, fitting to earlier models is an unknown.'

So looks like I am £200 down the drain getting Range Rover World to fit it when he was upgrading my screen, but now have to pay to get it taken out to send back for a refund.

it is indeed..i would never pay that amount for a dashcam especially as the novelty of having one soon wears off ...
i havnt looked at my recordings for a very long while..


i've fitted a cheap one off ebay and both day and night recordings are ok....decent dashcams can be bought for £30-60'ish..oh, and they work on any car btw.. ... - .- -.

I don't think it being "a novelty" would worry me too much if someone causes an accident and the information it gives results in either a prosecution or a successful insurance claim! The thing is, it's there for when you need it!!  All LR cars from 1984
