Help Needed: 380w vs 825w (New Purchase) RR Westminster

Looking for a little advise please; I’ve bought a new 300d RR Westminster Black (should be collecting next week) I’m coming out of owning a 2013 RR 4.4 Autobiography for the last 4 years. I was unaware until recently the Westminster whilst having additional options does only have the base spec 380w Meridian. I’ve found the system in my current Autobiography really good and had a 2011 L322 Autobiography before that which was also good. Question is, will I notice a huge difference and separately is there an option available for dealer retrofit? Many Thanks Dan.

The differences between the three systems are here (thanks Stan): https://www.fullfatrr.com/gallery/albums/u...RATION.pdf

It looks like you would need to change the electronics, and fit some extra speakers. I guess the wires would already be in place, but That’s just a guess.

To get a dealer to change that will be a crazy price. Anything retrofitted is silly money. You could get the parts used and do as much as you can yourself, and that would be a few £hundred if you can get a decent price on used parts

It looks like this would fit the bill: LOUDSPEAKERS SET MERIDIAN RANGE ROVER VOGUE L405 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/265165615723
Maybe worth looking into, and also asking if that postage cost is a typo!

Be aware that, since the facelift, the subwoofer (a dual channel one) is different and has moved from under the seat to the rear of the car, in the Meridian Surround Sound System and in the Meridian Signature Sound System. It is absent in the basic sound system.

I had the basic Meridian system on my Vogue and I thought it was perfectly adequate, so much so I have the same system on my new order. I would guess the most cost effective option for you to upgrade would be aftermarket components (focal etc.) and an external amp. As the L405 has been around for a few years I would expect any decent installer should have an idea of what would work in this vehicle. 2021 L405 Vogue D300

Looking at the link with the details of the systems, looks like only the reference system would be a more meaningful upgrade but there is no way to do that without major changes in the cabin. Looks like the signature systems is also a cost option on the AB, so you may find the standard system is not that far away from what you experienced before. 2021 L405 Vogue D300

I would leave well alone on a brand new car.

Take delivery and then see whether the sound system is good enough. If you're happy with it then no further worries.

Bear in mind that fiddling around with wiring and removing/installing components will probably affect your warranty and would give JLR a perfect excuse to refuse to deal with any wiring or electronic issues whether audio related or not.

Not sure also how any upgrade might affect the regular infotainment software updates that are released as it may not cope with a change from the factory configuration.

I am no hifi geek but yes I think you will notice the difference. I had the Meridian Surround System in my previous RRS AB but in my current Vogue SE, which I bought (leased) as a stock car, the standard fitment is the basic Meridian system. Its not bad and perfectly adequate for listening to voice radio but I notice the difference when I play music from my Spotify list. The volume and clarity is just not up to the Surround system. I would say take the car as it is and try it; you may find it acceptable but if not youre going to have spend some money

As for me, I'm glad I only took my Vogue SE on a 2yr contract hire so I only have to wait another 15 months or so before chopping it in

I found a video of these guy upgrading the speakers on the Vogue, it looks like they also sell genuine LR parts to upgrade them also...looks like an easy retrofit.
