IMO the 5.0 SC starts off as a £100k + car and comes with £100k+ car running costs. As the car ages these running costs do not go down and the risks of getting an occasional huge bill go up. But its only a car and can be fixed. Go in with your eyes open and realistic expectations and you'll do your 10k miles a year in one of the nicest places to do such things. That's got to be worth more than Mondeo money, yet the initial investment will probably be less. After that its just down to luck mitigated by not avoiding the unnecessarily expensive maintenance. I've taken my latest from 60k to nearly 110k. Other than service items, so far just the aircon has given me grief - now fixed for £650 and lots of hassel. On current plans I'm keeping it for another 18 months so still plenty of time to get bitten but really unless it somehow writes itself off I'll consider it fair value for the significant amount of my life that I'll have spent in it. Ultimately it is just a car. Fuel, air, spark and boom you are going

I have a 4.2 now on 196k virtually no miles this year and I budget 3k a year for maintenance but then I do lots more miles

I've a 5.0sc. 3 months in, so far so good. But I'm fully aware tomorrow is another day.

Forget 'location, location, location'.....instead go for.....'oil change, oil change, oil change'.
