4.4 tdv8 mpg

I’ve never really thought about how much fuel my l322 uses however out of interest I put on the mpg gauge and it’s reading 24 average (max of 30 when taking it steady). I can get about 450 miles to a tank. Had a quick search on here and it seems I should be getting more out of the fuel than this.

Any obvious or common issues? Zero error codes.

I’ll be doing a run up to Derbyshire this weekend so will monitor 1995 4.6 v8, green/tan (long gone)

I’m consistently getting around the 30mpg mark, although mostly longer journeys and generally light right foot.

I’m getting 29.5-31.1 just being out and about. Yes I give it the beans sometimes and I usually drive at about 60-70mph

@OP. your consumption is bang on. I get 25 avge with a mix of mainly town and some motorway/dual carriageway.

However drove 350 miles to Cornwall @ 75mph and back and got an avge of 30.6mpg but mostly motorway/DC. when I filled up it gave me 500 miles range. Normally it shows 460 range.

Back to 24 mpg again now Mad

So today I was thinking about this question as I was travelling to collect my car after having a replacement fuel sender fitted under warranty.
After collecting the car I brimmed the tank and drove 110 miles in mixed Friday afternoon before bank holiday traffic. I reset the counters when I filled the tank.

I then brimmed the tank again, which was 17 litres bang on, and the car was reporting 35.3mpg. A quick calculation makes that an actual 29.4mpg (or for our cousins across the pond 24.5 US mpg)

Not scientific, only one run, and a few factors to consider… but something for you to compare against.

I had to do a 310 mile round trip this week. The first trip longer than 20 miles in a year !

The last long trip I did showed 32 mpg average. This weeks trip showed 35.4 mpg average so well pleased with that.

My normal to and fro work trip of 6 miles is normally about 25/26 mpg.

All quite marvellous really considering the weight of the vehicle.

Not really done many serious long journeys yet. We have been up to Islay. I think we only got 27mpg. But the wife was driving !

We are taking a trip to Javea next week via Portsmouth-Santander. I will report my findings!

Manchester to Haro (Rioja)

Okay. Usually heavy UK traffic, stop-start, lots of 50mph roadworks down to Portsmouth. Docked in Santander and did the first trip before re-fuelling in Haro. To be fair, the car was heavily loaded. It’s also a lot of hill climbing up to Haro.

TeeMyob: just installed fully.com on my iphone, in the days when I had my chauffeur company I always used my 'little blue book' every gallon/mpg went in there for absolute years......now retired, fully.com looks like a bit of fun, thanks for showing that. 2012 Orkney Grey Westminster 4.4TDV8 with Ivory interior.........nice!

Its so much better when people take the time to input accurate info.

Interesting to see how much more fuel efficient the 405 can be.
