You are right, dealerships do make significant money (and they should) if/when they meet required sales volumes - then they get their bonuses. So on paper, short term margins on new cars are relatively small, but this is largely compensated by volume bonuses. It's just the structure all dealerships use with most manufacturers on a global scale. Among other financial, tax and accounting reasons, this incentivises managements and sales team to work even harder. l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l Current RANGE ROVER Vogue 4.4L SDV8 - 2013 - Indus Silver, on Almond. Bit off thread, when I last looked, couldn't find GAP insurance as a stand alone product that exceeds £75k back to invoice. |

From my time in the dealership (10 years ago) it was generally around a 15% markup, so there was room to haggle

Yep, was offered all those when I bought my AB. To be fair the salesman wasn't particularly pushing them hard but did say that it's what they have been instructed to offer all customers. 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster - Gone, but not forgotten |
